The version we watched had an Italian audio.

How would you know that? You said you were only watching it.

I find myself wondering about that quite often, actually.

This may come as a shock, but I know the difference between German and Italian. :D

Tuco, get your shit together. And take your pills.

Germany: Year Zero - 8/10 - Very good, but God how depressing.
Exactly.

Anyway, my understanding is that the film should be in German, as Rossellini intended.

That's what you get, Drink, for not appreciating the genius of When You Read This Letter.

You say Rome: Open City is only okay?

I watched scenes from that in my Topics in Film class two years back, and have wanted to check out the whole thing.

Wall-E - 8-9/10 - The scenes with EVE and the title character on Earth are brilliant and creative, but once they get to the space ship full of fat people, it becomes fairly routine, if still entertaining. Pixar's first close-to-great film since Finding Nemo, though.

Loose Change - Conspiracy thinking at its most idiotic, cherry-picking facts, half-truths and complete misrepresentations, making ridiculous leaps and assumptions, plus connecting two things are the tiniest bit related together. The leaps in illogic are pretty darned funny though, and show the defectiveness of conspiracy thought in all its, err, glory. If Dale Gribble and Fox Mulder worked together on a film it would be this one.

Blue Velvet - 6/10
Some brilliant Lynch moments, some terrible scenes and dialogues. Denis Hopper is great in it, of course over the top but that's what he's paid for. He's in most of the good scenes. Rosselini is quite good but never manages to make you really care about her character. Dale Cooper and Jurassic Girl are embarassing most of the time. Lynch's camerawork isn't at its best: we're pretty far from Muhlolland Drive or Lost Highway. All in all, the movie looks like an average rip-off of Twin Peaks.
I had a feeling that those "bad dialogues" were intentionally corny. But with Lynch you never know when he's serious...

Man of the West (1958) - 9/10
Maybe even 9.5/10.
