Shutter Island - 7/10
everything is good (visuals, story, actors, soundtrack...), nothing is great. The main flaw has already been criticised here: the ackwards dreams and flash back. They may improve a lot with second viewing (and the rating may improve with them). I knew the ending because of a stupid guy in English class three years ago. Didn't really matter.

J'ai tué ma mere - 5/10 or 9/10
Nothing new (if not nothing at all) is told in this low budget movie about a complex mother and son   relationship. And the cinematography, if quite original and interesting, is very amatorish. However, some amazing scenes, some great acting and a lot of good acting. This deserves a 5 (or may be 6 if you're in this kind of movies). Now, considering the director and writer who happens to be also the producer and the lead  actor is only 19 years old, it could deserve 9 out of ten.

Watchmen - 6/10
better than I thought. Good credit sequence. Weird soundtrack. Nice universe and background. Good pitsch. Bad action sequences. Boring last hour. No emotion at all, like in all these superhero/comic books movies, whatever they try. SinCity stays the best shot with Unbreakable.

Right. That's also what 30% of this movie is.

Shutter Island - 8-9/10 - Discalimer: I knew the twist going in (who didn't?) thanks to some spoiler troll on IMDB. The ending was my biggest flaw: I didn't mind the twist, but the overly literal explanation of what really happened bothered me - it was hardly better than the ending of Psycho, for instance. I would have preferred some degree of ambiguity here, to be honest. Otherwise, I found it fascinating, beautifully directed (in a manner different from Scorsese's usual style), well-acted (nice to see Ben Kingsley in something worthwhile, for once), not a bit disturbing, and engrossing throughout. Probably the best film I've seen in theaters since Slumdog Millionaire, which admittedly isn't saying a great deal.

Rio Bravo - 7-8/10 - First viewing in five years, I'm not evening going to try and count how many times I've seen it in my lifetime. Angie Dickinson still hurts this one for me, she has a lot of screen time and little to do but flirt with Wayne. Plus the bad guys are complete morons.

So you liked it a lot, huh? I was forcing myself to watch it a couple of times, just wasn't the right day.

It may be Lynch's masterpiece, imo...

I can't choose a favorite; Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart, Lost Highway and Mulholland Dr. are all great movies.

The Shop Around the Corner (1940) - 9/10

Agreed I'll add "Fire Walk with Me" to those too.

Ugh, to me Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me seemed like a bad joke that shouldn't have been said in first place. Smiley
