In the Mouth of Madness (1995) I think that any horror fan (which I'm not) could trace all the sources for this movie, both cinematographic and literary ones. it's not very bad (though it takes it almost an hour to keep moving) but it is not original. 7\10

Jing wu men (1972) - 6.5/10

The guys from China against every bordering country. Bruce Lee is on fire and this is without any doubt a timeless classic, but it's far from a perfectly structured movie.

ILSA SHE WOLF OF THE SS(1974)

Extremely shocking and depraved but Dyanne Thorne's wonderful performance helps make this totally  compelling. Evil

10/10

Spaceballs (1987) As every Mel Brooks movie this leaves me with the feeling that the director bit off more than he could chew. The Abrahams bros. spoofs are better timed and outrageous, at least for my tastes. But this is good because of the special effects, original and on a par with (or even better than: the housemaid with the vacuum cleaner is tops) their models. So I give it 8\10.

THE OTHER GUYS(2010)   6/10

Unoriginal formulaic stuff though the two lead guys were mildly amusing.Haven't seen one decent new film with my cinema card since i got it a month ago.I might give WALL STREET 2 a go later this week though i can't remember much about the original or if i even liked it.

It looks like there was an odd glut of parodic action comedies this summer, between this, The Expendables and Macgruber. Any significant difference between them?

Ansiktet / The Magician (1958) 10/10. Criterion Blu-ray 10/10. A charlatan and his troupe ("Vogler's Magnetic Health Theater") gets up-close-and-personal with its audience, an audience at once hostile and needy. The encounter proves salutary, however, for those on both sides of the curtain. Vogler, who has been experiencing a crisis of faith (in Bergman, imagine!) finally regains his belief in Theater. The ending probably owes more than a little to Dreyer's Ordet, put what of that? The performance given by von Sydow is one of his best, despite the fact that he plays mute (it's part of his routine) for most of the film. There is power in The Gaze!

The Social Network (2010)

Let's say 8/10 for now so that I won't be too wrong, I'll wait for a second viewing to see if I can raise it to 9 or 10.

Space Cowboys > Casino Huh

Casino changed the cinematographic landscape for 15 years now... (only from a technical standpoint)

Slaughterhouse-Five (1972) - ?/10

This must be the (at least) 5th time I'm trying to watch this, but just can't get past the first 30 minutes or so...

eh, i just like Space Cowboys more. It's good ole hokey fun. Until the last act, it sorta makes it uneven. gets way too serious. My problem with Casino is that the first 90 minutes or so is waaaaaaay too fast paced, way too much music, way TOO Scorsese-like if you catch my drift. the narration is overboard too. Then the second half is essentially Mean Streets meets Raging Bull. (Johnny Boy vs. Charlie = Sam vs. Nicky.......LaMotta's jealous obsession with Vicky = Sam's jealous obsession with Ginger).

IDK, now that I think about it I probably actually like Casino way more. whatever, ratings dont matter. I JUST LIKE MOVIES!!!

Odd. Vonnegut was a big fan.
