Courtesy of TCM, rewatches of:

The Captain's Paradise - 9/10

Last Holiday (1950) - 8/10

The Horse's Mouth - 9/10

There's nothing to rescue a boring Saturday quite like an Alec Guinness marathon!

The Day After (1983) - 8 out of 10

One of the best TV movie ever. This movie is disturbing as very few others, I haven't seen it in years but it took me less than a second to remember certain scenes.

Brazil (1985) - ?/10

I guess I'm in minority here: I don't believe I've ever finished this one, and I've tried like 10 times over the years. The premise is hard to resist but the execution is soooo dull and visually unappealing...

I might give it another try if ever a DVD should wonder my way, I wanna understand why so many like it so much. I'm a believer.

Under the Volcano (1984) - around a 4/10

Speaking of John Huston... This movie renders one of the greatest onscreen performances *ever* (courtesy of Albert Finney), I mean it, but unfortunately it's boring as hell. It's easy to sense what they were trying to achieve here, pity they didn't succeed.

Quai des Orfévres (1947) I expected more form this, the story is quite unsatisfactory. But Jouvet is huge, a performance on a level with Meurisse's in Le deuxiéme souffle. And Blier is great as usual. 7\10
