It's the stupid brawling that's supposed to provide comedy relief that annoys me the most. Brawling isn't funny; people get killed that way.

Secretariat - 6/10 - A Disney film about a race horse? What did you expect, Citizen Kane?

God's Little Acre - 1/10 - Hideous. Ignore, if you can, that it's an Anthony Mann film: more to the point is that it's an overwrought, nonsensical Southern-fried melodrama that makes Peyton Place look like Brief Encounter. Poor Robert Ryan gives a monstrously-bad performance, complete with scenery-chewing and one of the phoniest Southern accents in film history, and the rest of the cast follows suit. Boring photography, a non-existent plot, painfully obvious "symbolism" and a jarringly-inappropriate score don't help. I can't think of a single redeeming feature, it's just awful. I suppose no film with characters named Ty Ty, Griselda and Pluto could possibly be worthwhile, though.

Knock On Wood (1954)  Another typical Kaye exercise, a couple of good scenes but only mildly entertaining. 6\10

The Patriot - 6/10 - 4th viewing.

The Enforcer - 7/10 - Thin on plot but the action scenes are great, especially the Alcatraz finale. A middling Dirty Harry entry.

Brothers (2009) - 2/10 - What a dull film. Boring story, bland cast (I hesitate to call Jake Gyllenhaal an actor), obnoxious Hollywood kids and weak script. Then it gets positively cartoonish in the last 15 minutes. Maybe the original Danish film is better; it couldn't be much worse.

Casino Royale (1967) Masterful score. beautiful women galore. The story is, well, weak. But the '60's flavour makes it tolerable for old coots like me. 6\10

Casino Royale (1954) It may be interesting only for Lorre's Le Chiffre. Only for (Jimmy) Bond lovers.

Between Heaven and Hell (1956) Boring, with forcibly problematic characters and little, uninteresting action. 5\10

The Charge of the Light Brigade (1968) - 7/10 - 2nd viewing. It can't seem to decide if it's a comedy/satire or straight historical epic and doesn't really succeed as either. Good battle scenes, great music and some fun performances but the plotting is haphazard and the writing flat. And what's with the stupid romance? On the other hand, the animated sequences are amazing.
