The Steel Trap (1952 Director: Andrew L. Stone, with Joseph Cotten, Teresa Wright and Jonathan Hale. The story is about an obsessed bank executive who steals cash from a vault and hightails it with his wife (who doesn't know what he's done) towards Brazil over a long weekend, with various procedural obstacles put in his way the film is entertaining but not very Noir. Some nice shots of TWA Connies taking off and landing held my interest for personal reasons. 7/10

the only movie i saw on this list is Office Space, 10 years ago. I found it excruciating; if I'd been rating movies then, I'd probably have given it a 2/10. And that was in a time in my life that I actually was interested in comedies, and probably didn't have that refined a taste either

So I noticed this thread is just 12 posts away from 10,000. (11 now, actually, including this one). Do we celebrate? Do we leave the ten thousandth post to rrpower to make?

Does this involve the Cotten character getting cold feet and returning the money in the nick of time?

Yes. Good european art house film, but nothing much in it exept cool atmosphere. Paris, Texas is his absolute best.

I prefer Wings of Desire (the German title is much better: The Heaven above Berlin) to Paris Texas. But Wenders' best is the State of Things. The American Friend is also very good.
These are all very fascinating films, all 9 or 10/10
Wenders was a fantastic director then.

I think my favorite is Wings of Desire. I wasn't that excited about Paris, Texas, for some reason
RR, I suppose you mean Shadows in Paradise from 2010, not the Aki Kaurismäki film of -86? Anyway, I haven't seen either...
