Tried to watch the new Fantastic Four last night. Made it an hour in; nothing had happened yet, so I turned it off. Presumably the last forty minutes contain the greatest superhero film ever made.

Just saw JANE EYRE (1943), with Joan Fontaine and Orson Welles. I did not enjoy it at all. Halfway through, I was already not paying attention anymore.
I have not read the book.

Turkish Delight - 3/5

I enjoyed the book and thought the film had its moments but overall it seemed lacking.

Rewatched X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past last night. My opinions didn't drastically change: First Class is slick mutant fun, Future bloated and uneven bombast. I'm sure my friends will drag me to see Apocalypse so it helps to catch back up.

A great, great Herrmann score. You Philistine.

Layer Cake 5/10
Good acting, good premises, uninteresting scenario, lame directing.

Thanks for the follow-up. I was really worried.

HBO's been showing it twice daily all week. I guess it's a break from Paper Towns and Divergent.

Confirmation - 7/10 - Decent HBO film about Clarence Thomas's confirmation hearings. Kerry Washington is a meek Anita Hill, Jeffrey Wright her lawyer, Wendell Pierce a befuddled Clarence Thomas, Greg Kinnear as a doofus Joe Biden.

All the Way - 8/10 - HBO's latest political drama with Bryan Cranston as Lyndon Johnson, fighting the pass the Civil Rights Act and win reelection. Typical of HBO's house style but the script (based on a play) juggles several connected storylines with skill. Cast is uniformly excellent: not only Cranston but Anthony Mackie (as Martin Luther King), Melissa Leo (as Lady Bird), Frank Langella (Richard Russell) and Bradley Whitford (Hubert Humphrey).

I take it you've lost your remote control and are now stuck on HBO.

More seriously, I don't think these films are ever distributed in France. It's a shame because even our highest profile made for TV movies suck.

(Yes they do, Stanton)

I can't decide which I loathe most, the list of films getting play in titoli's proprietary thread, or this cascade of HBO titles Groggy is laying on us. Somewhere on this board there must be something of interest.

The Witch (2015) - 3/10
Was kinda drunk and half asleep and don't remember a lot of it, but pretty sure this sucked. Booooring, dull characters, etc. Anyone see it? Am I right?

I could start reviewing Lifetime movies if you want.
