I agree that we have to make distinctions between "good" Marvel movies and bad ones. I very much liked Ant-Man and Deadpool and the first two Iron Man films. Hated just about everything else.

The only interesting Marvel movies are the ones that aren't really Marvel movies: they fall outside the grand Marvel scheme by being films that Marvel don't bet on: Logan, Guardian of the Galaxy and Deadpool (haven't seen Antman, and don't intend to: who fires Edgar Wright deserves a very special place in Hell). As soon as the Disney executives notice there are actually big bucks to do with these guys, they destroy them (Guardian 2, probably Deadpool 2).

Yeah, Guardians 2 not so hot, but I really enjoyed Deadpool 2. Probably more than the first one.

Faces 8.5/10
First John Cassavetes in ages. I had it on my to watch list for a couple of years and that video convinced me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZnCNrFAeDo
Anyway: terrific film.

Detroit 6/10
Disappointing, although it has some strong scenes.

Very possibly. I'll see after a couple of rewatches.

The Glass Web (1953): Edward G. Robinson and John Forsythe are both in an affair with femme fatale Kathleen Hughes, who uses blackmail and sex to get what she wants. Until she ends up dead. Who did it? Find out on the TV show they all work(ed) on, showcasing real crimes. It's not bad but the movie does not live up to the story. Forsythe just isn't noir material and Robinson seems to be collecting a paycheck. Shot in 3D (with one  inconsequential sequence with some 'funny' 3D shots), but why?! 6/10

I found it on yt some time ago, but it seems to have been taken down. Same copy can be seen here: https://ok.ru/video/267816012451

Max et les Ferrailleurs - 7/10
Weird and flawed plot, but that’s not the point: top notch acting by the French legends of the time, great vintage Parisian atmosphere and that very special Claude Sautet charm. Oh and Romy isn’t believable as a prostitute, but she melts the heart of most characters as well as the audience’s one every time she smiles.

Scenes from the Class Struggle in Beverly Hills (1989) From the director of Eating Raoul, Paul Bartel - The widow's houseboy and the divorcee's chauffeur bet on which will bed the other's employer first. Along with other shenanigans 7/10

Dr. Caligari (1989) Weird experimental, art house, trashy. 5/10

The Decline Of Western Civilization (1981): Documentary following the LA punk scene back in 1980. There have been many (great) retrospective documentaries on various hardcore & punk scenes in the past decade, but this one was made back in the day. Excellent stuff, with the segments with Darby Crash (singer of The Germs) and the band X as standouts. And Lee Ving of Fear insulting anybody and anything, what's not to love. 8+/10

A Pigeon Sat On A Branch Reflecting On Existence 7/10
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGwGyo5Ywpo
Weird, witty, funny sad and quite unique, just like the rest of the trilogy, from what I understand. It looks great apart from the (very few) CGI elements. Terrific use of music that highlights the inherently musical structure of the film. The (very few) positive scenes - mostly including love of children - are partly a missed occasion: apart from the young couple with the dog, they don't reach the same level of minutia as the rest of the film. It's a shame since it's easy to see how they were supposed to counterbalance the rest of the movie.
It's my first Roy Andersson movie after his short that I saw 15 years ago, and that was much darker: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jElxWAdQ2fM

The Satan Bug(1965)

First saw this in Lowes Triboro in 1965, and never since till just now. A crazy pharmaceutical millionare Ainsley (Richard Basehart) devises a sceme that involves the three year impersonation of a biological warfare biologist Hoffman to steal  some biological weapons and a deadly virus and hold the U.S. and world hostage. They let loose a vial in Florida to show they aren't kidding.

George Maharis as Barrett a private investigator and former intelligence agent who was the former head of security for the facility, Anne Francis as Ann his gal pal. Dana Andrews as General Williams, Ed Asner as Veretti,
Simon Oakland as Tasserly, John Anderson as Reagan and James Hong as Yang.

Filmed mostly in the Mojave Desert. Entertaining enough but the bad guys do some stupid things. 6.5/10

The Great Silence - 4/5

It's been nearly 10 years since I last saw the movie and that was a dubbed version. But this time, I saw the restoration in theaters with the italian track. It's not a perfect film because there is some real pacing problems here and there but overall, still enjoyed it as I did back then. That opening credit scene of Silence just riding his horse through the snow and the music playing along is an image that has always been floating around in my head for years and to see it on the big screen was great. The score is still as good as I remember and one track stood out for me because I had heard it sampled in one of those young people's rap songs.

Nous ne vieillirons pas ensemble 6.5/10
I hadn’t seen this one since I was something like 14. Nice watch, some really touching moments and I like the radicalness of the film... but there are obvious pacing issues and Jean Yann does little to be likable in any way.

The Neon Demon 7/10
Not half as smart and deep as it thinks it is (although it’s way less obscure than I thought the first time), but damn this movie is gorgeous to look at.
