What's so funny about Elfman MS?! His brilliance is shown in the Edward Scissorhands Soundtrack all in itself.
I'm not making fun of him, if anything I'm complimenting his track for The Simpsons.

As most users of this board will know, quantity is no guarantee of quality.  However Morricone must be given some credit for the variety and volume of work he has created (over 480 films).  There is probably one good book and tune in all of us but to create such items on a regular basis calls for a real talent.

I like Angelo Badalamenti, the working relationship between him and David Lynch is similar to Leone & Morricone

Only thing I heard from him was Twin Peaks. That's Lynch. It's pretty good, but it sounds kind a melodramatic.

Bernard Hermann

No way.

He's good, but he's no where near as good as Morricone

How about almost as good as Ennio Morricone?

Okay, the composers we name don't have to be great 24/7, they just have to have made something as good as one of his great scores.

I'd like to point out that James Horner has composed some Brilliant Scores as well and deserves to be talked about among all the Composers listed....

Field Of Dreams
Glory
Legends of the Fall
Braveheart
Titanic
Aliens
The Land Before Time
The Man Without a Face
Cocoon
The New World
Courage Under Fire
48 hrs.
