Watching Sympathy for the Devil (1968) for a second time would probably kill me. Or make me a real fucking communist.

Bunuel's films yes,  but like I've said its been 20 years ago that I've seen them and I really don't remember them much.

Give me a must view sampler list to get me up to snuff when you have time.  O0

well, You picked among the best, but I'll admit there are another dozen which I like very much: Ensayo de un crimen, L'Age d'or, Simon del desierto, Los olvidados, Las Hurdes, Susana, El bruto, Nazarin, El angel exterminador. I like also Tristana, La voie lactée and his ironic version of Robinson Crusoe.

Never again:

pink flamingos
Food, gas and Lodging
Stayin' alive
satyricon
Lost in Translation
barbarella

What I won't even touch:

Bridges of Madison County
The English Patient
Garden State
Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind
Mamma Mia!

I just came across this thread because I just saw Gas, Food Lodging (1992) and I did a search for it on this site. What the hell, why not revive  a thread from 12 years ago  :)

It's a good movie. I give it at least  a 7.5/10 - and that's probably low; women will probably enjoy this more than men, as this is very much from a woman's perspective. If the identical movie was made about men growing up in  a shitty Western town instead of women (The Last Picture Show?) I'd probably have enjoyed it even more. This is a very well-done film, and anyone who put it on a negative list is nuts. (elsewhere he called it "terrible" and "utter nonsense." http://www.fistful-of-leone.com/forums/index.php?topic=4913.msg63627#msg63627)

Then again, the same idiot who put this movie on a negative list said he won't touch Bridges of Madison County, which is an absolutely great movie. But yeah, since it was a real women's book, i can see ho a man would be reluctant to watch the movie. But it was an unqualified masterpiece.

One thing Firecracker got right: The English Patient was indeed a real piece of shit.

Make that "a real well-photographed piece of shit."

You should consider me as your ally on this one. The other guys are the bad ones.

I do ...

I'm just interested, as you are quite able to describe such flaws. And I can't think of much flaws in the film, at least not ones that are really distracting.

What's this us-vs.-them attitude you're spouting? It's harshing my mellow, man.
