We have talking about Comics or Bande Dessinées, as we call them in France or Belgium.

If we agree that comics have an important influence on cinema, I would like to know what are your favourite comics or Bandes Dessinées, who are your favourite drawers and authors.

My favourite comic is Corto Maltese, by the italian Hugo Pratt.

I like very much Enki Bilal and a drawer from my country called Breccia.

I also like Franck Miller from the US, teh original drawer of Daredevil.

What about you?

Hey Shorty, good to see that others share an interest in comics or graphic novels or BDs or whatever we call them.

The ones you mentioned are great series. Frank Milller is not the original drawer or creator of Daredevil though. Stan "the man" Lee invented him, and I think Ditko was the artist. But Miller surely reinvented the Man without Fear, as he did Batman for DC in Dark Knight Returns in the 80's. He also did a piece that I think my fellow Leone fans will enjoy: SIN CITY. The first in the series is EXCELLENT, the rest isn't. The artwork is expressionist and dark, the plot terrifyingly cruel and merciless.

Other favourites:
Well Blueberry of course - in another topic on this site we have the honour of Colin Wilson (one of the artists) visiting.
The stories that Boucq has drawed.
Bilal, you said it, man!
Moebius (The Incal story)
Faboulous Furry Freak Brothers
Larson: The Far Side
Mazzuchelli and Miller: Batman, Daredevil
Manara: Indian Summer
Comès
Agent XIII (Faboluos agent story, series of 8 albums or so)
Hermanns series on Jeremiah (I dont know if its out in English)
Corto Maltese
One should never forget Tintin in Tibet

These are just a few of my favourite things...

Kermit, I'm worried about you.  Who do you relate to best, Phineas or Fat Freddie?  Don't you dare tell me that Freewheelin' Franklin is your favorite!

And what if your hand should shake a little?  And that Gringo so fast on the draw.

Frank Miller did an amazing work with "300", the story o Leonidas and the spartans in Termopilae.

I grew up reading the adventures of Alix too.

Asterix is a classic, but not one of my favourites.

My favourite author and drawer is Hugo Pratt, I think he's the best and his characters (Corto Maltese, Ernie Pike, Koinski) and stories are extremely interesting.

Of course, the "europeans" posters of this board know "Buck Danny", or "Les Passagers du vent".

I'm not an expert on japanese mangas, but they're extremely important too, remember "Kill Bill"?

'Lone Wolf and Cub' By Kazuo Koike & Goseki Kojima. All 28 volumes of it. Wonderful stuff

Can't go wrong with a bit of Frank Miller either.  ;)

'Jimmy Corrigan Smartest Kid in the World' by Chris Ware. was the last Graphic Novel i read.
Can't recomended it enough.
Dark humour at its best.
ive bought 2 copies for other people already.

P.S. Tintin, Asterix & 2000AD all the time as a kid,

coincidence,I watch TV this morning: GIR/GIRAUD/MOEBIUS was spoking about the Blueberry Film project.
He regretted that one of his ideas ,( employ two old french rock singers Eddy Mitchell and Johnny Hallyday as gun-fighter), was not accepted.
