AC is gonna piss his Mothra undies! That is, if he hasn't soiled them already!

There's been talk of that for a couple years now but that's the first I've heard of it being only 40 minutes. Not real interested in it unless it turns out to be something awesome. Yoshimitsu Banno is involved and he directed one of the weirdest but best loved entries in 1972's GODZILLA VS THE SMOG MONSTER. I'm not all that big a fan of it but it is one of the strangest entries featuring child-like moments mixed with animation and several scenes of extreme violence. The US version utilized a popular theme song entitled 'Save the Earth'. Producer Tomoyuki Tanaka was horrified when he returned to Toho studios and saw what Banno did with the franchise and vowed he would never direct a Godzilla movie again. He even had G flying for crying out loud.

Toho had already said they'd revive the series some ten years after the fallout from the nuclear waste of celluloid that was GODZILLA FINAL WARS. Considering how jaw-droppingly awful that movie turned out with the arrogant and hackneyed hand of Ryuhei Kitamura (VERSUS) at the helm, the thought of Banno returning, whether it be the directors chair or otherwise, isn't a lively proposition, IMO. Bring Masaaki Tezuka back or even let Shusuke Kaneko unleash his dark vision again as he did with GMK and I'll be excited.
