Undderated 80's anthology horror movie
Short review:

First two stories are good.
The third feels rushed and has a weak ending.
Final story is solid.
Wraparound story is generic and the ending is a bit weak.

Vincent Price and Cameron Mitchell enhance the film.

7/10

The carnival one? What was weak about the ending? All of them were very much in the EC vein. If you mean because evil doesn't get its comeuppance I can understand, but that's why I liked it.

Yeah, the freak show one felt rushed.
All the freaks were in the circus to get away from the authorities from their past crimes but we never get a back story on the glass eater. Why was he there in the first place?
Also, he leaves with the girl only knowing that he'll be killed?
And it seemed a bit out of place for the innocent to get the comeuppance.

It's an anthology. There's only so much time to tell a story in a limited time frame. I didn't need to know every detail. They showed you how he came into the carnival in a flashback, right? There's dozens of horror movies where evil wins or the good guys die. It's not out of place at all. THE OMEN, BEYOND THE DOOR, BURIAL GROUND, NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, pretty much all other anthology movies, PIECES, AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON, THE HOWLING, DEAD & BURIED, SHOCK WAVES, AMITYVILLE 2: THE POSSESSION, THE INCUBUS (1982), MOTHER'S DAY, THE SKULL are movies off the top of my head wherein the protagonist(s) suffers a terrible fate or evil simply wins out in the end.

No.

I understand what you're saying with evil usually winning but it didn't keep with the themes of the other three stories.
The ending for that one just felt unresolved.
