Much like Fulci's Zombi.
First 40 minutes in NYC are kinda sleep inducing but once the cast reaches the island things get pretty enthralling.
Donal O'Brien is the star of course as the mad scientist who creates zombies from the corpses of dead cannibals.
Light entertainment. Check out Fulci's "Zombi" for a better Italian zombie movie.

6/10

The original title of this translated from the Italian is QUEEN OF THE CANNIBALS. It's not really a zombie picture but was marketed as such in some territories. It's also known as ISLAND OF THE LAST CANNIBALS. It was released here as DR. BUTCHER M.D. with a different opening and score. The opening under the DR. BUTCHER moniker was footage from a Roy Frumkes/Wes Craven unfinished film called TALES THAT'LL TEAR YOUR HEART OUT. This opening featured zombies rising from their graves coupled with some quick shots of zombies from the actual movie. Alexandra Delli Colli is gorgeous and she's also in Fulci's nasty NEW YORK RIPPER (1982). Ian McCulloch is the star of this movie, though, and not Donald O'Brien, although he steals what few scenes he's in. If I remember right, some of the "island" scenes were actually shot in Rome. The same US company that distributed ZOMBIE in America (Aquarius Releasing) also handled this one, too in addition to a large number of other foreign exploitation flicks. I used to have the old Paragon VHS. Great, trashy movie for those that can appreciate trash.

All the island stuff was shot in a town outside Rome.

Yes, and O'Briens hut is the same one Fulci used in ZOMBI. Pretty fargile though as it was almost destroyed in Fulcis better film...

Four German LC's rejected by the censors for public viewing:
