Not to be confused with the 80's slasher flick Silent Night, Deadly Night, this is actually more of a classier picture involving a spooky old mansion and its morbid past.
Well shot night scenes and the snowy locale enhance the spookiness of it all.
This is another horror film that used the killer's POV long before Carpenter's Halloween made it popular.
The other would be, another Christmas themed horror movie, Bob Clark's Black Christmas.

I also seem to recall Peter Collinson's Fright (starring Susan George) having POV shots as well.

8/10

Yeah, I watched those three movies I wrote about within 12 hours.
Had to return them all the next day.

It doesn't have Garbage Day, so I doubt it's any good. Cheesy

Saw this on Elvira's Movie Macabre years back. I didn't like it at the time, but remember absolutely nothing about it. This must be from one of those Brentwood bootleg dvd sets. When you mentioned BLACK CHRISTMAS (1974), it was also re-released under the title SILENT NIGHT, EVIL NIGHT and was rechristened STRANGER IN THE HOUSE for cable which was where I first saw it. The POV shot has been in movies pre 1970 in a lot of monster movies especially those terrible Larry Buchanan creature flicks. FRIGHT (1971) does, too, and the story concerns a babysitter stalked by a madman escaped from a loony bin. TOWER OF EVIL (1972) also has POV shots from the deformed killer. This movie (like Bava's BAY OF BLOOD 1972) is an unacknowledged inspiration for the numerous slasher movies that would follow later. Lots of sex and gore in this Brit horror flick.
