A pair of grizzled frontiersmen fight indians, guzzle liquor, and steal squaws in their search for a legendary valley 'so full of beaver that they jump right into your traps' in this fanciful adventure.

Has anybody seen this Charlton Heston film? The plot sounds interesting.

I need to see this. I'm hearing from someone that Heston wasn't happy with the theatrical release because there were many cuts.

it was a good lil timewaster-part comedy, part action, part drama, more realistic thn usul

Yeah. I will definitely pick this one up soon and I'll let you know my opinion. Thanks for the review.

This is a passable TW with good (but not extraordinary) performances and a dose of rugged mountain men humor. Nothing special nor revolutionary, although it is strange to see Heston in such role, but worth a look. The major flaw is the whole Indian part in the script; sort of ignorant and cheap script-linker any movie is better without, that definitely takes too much resources. Also too many contrasts: in one moment there's the almost slapstick humor that suddenly gets cut off with a gruesome scene, also the comedy and drama elements switch randomly. Well, I guess they were trying to make it more realistic... (?)

There really were some bad cuts.

(around) 6/10

No matter how cleverly you sneak up on a mirror, the reflection always looks you straight in the eye.

10\10 stuff the first 30 minutes (until the trappers round-up), i.e. until the love interest butts in. Then it's run of the tv mill stuff, but still you have great landscapes. And that's about that. 7\10
