Rub me the wrong way, and I'll go off in your face

Much more entertaining than either the cheap 89' version or the 2004 Thomas Jane one.

This one is a lot goofier than the previous two... the villains are over the top, the gunfights spill more blood than the average horror flick and the title character liquidates a perps head with his fist.

What more could you ask for in a Punisher movie?

Well, some of the action scenes (particularly the last gunfight) could have been pulled off with more pizazz.
Frank Castle's final duel with the main villains needed more originality.
And there is a draggy sequence right after the blood splattered opening that needs to be trimmed down.
A friend of mine defended that sequence by pulling out the "character developement" card but I said you don't need character developement in a Punisher movie. It's a strictly one note affair. Shoot/stab/decapitate/strangle hoodlums in new and exciting ways and you'll have yourself a good vigilante movie. And thankfully... this more or less delivers that.

I like this Stevenson guy. Jane was good but too wimpy at times and Dolph Lundgren was a charisma vacuum. A shame the movie bombed because I would have loved to have seen Stevenson take on this role again.

I still think the Thomas Jane version had better action scenes (it is difficult to top the gunfight with the "Johnny Cash" look alike and the scuffle with the Russian in a small spartment) but this movie was much more fun.
