The PQ detail is astounding. However I hear the french 5.1 mix is still not in the right pitch (apparently they fixed the german pitch problem by going back to the original mono and ditching the 5.1), and I'm awaiting to get some feedback confirmation on the mono english mix being the right mix and not the fold down of the 5.1 as per the previous disc.

Unfortunately, his filmography is poorly represented on BD and DVD, with cut or recut versions, missing soundlines in dubs, missing mixes substituted with 5.1 fold downs, crudely remixed 5.1 with extra sound-effects, 5.1 in the wrong pitches, and so on.
The reason for this is that the majority of his films were European co-productions with film rights distributed throughout Europe. Though MGM controls the majority of the world's copyrights, the actual material is exclusively Italian, with Germany a close second. This leads in a number of different releases, each with their own set of advantages and disadvantages.
All MGM releases are missing, which is unfortunate because they are the "general" most widely distributed releases, frequently scanned from IPs, cut, recut, and remixed, dub tracks in incorrect keys/tones, mono foldowns of the 5.1 remixes with new foley and gun sounds instead of the original mono tracks, DNRed, EEd... They're a list of everything that's incorrect.

Sergio Leone directed seven films in less than twenty-five years - five of them among the best westerns ever made featuring steely-eyed villains, iconic heroes and a host of colorful characters krunkerio

I don't have much to add in terms of content, but the current US Blu-ray release of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly has left me really unhappy. I admire the concept of making the 161-minute edit available to customers, and I hope that any future US releases of this famous movie will include the Italian content. Perhaps a reissue of the Italian CD with English audio in the film's original audio format?

I'm satisfied with Once Upon a Time in the West; perhaps the title is sufficient; but I wouldn't mind seeing upgrades to this title in the form of better or preferred versions of the picture.

The version I saw on TCM recently was way too green. I was HD but don't know which. Especially noticeable at Sad Hill Cemetery, the grass and brush should have had that yellowish summer dried out tint.
