Quentin Tarantino's Top 20 revealed:

1. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre --- I'm not too much of a fan of it but yeah, it is an obvious choice.
2. Dawn of the Dead --- Excellent O0
3. of the Living Dead ----Excellent but not as good as its sequel and a bit better than its second sequel.
4. Halloween ----- Overrated
5. Coffy ---- Kinda boring I thought. I liked Foxy Brown better
6. Rolling Thunder ---- Never seen
7. Five Fingers of Death ---- Great Kung Fu flick O0 One of the best. I also think it was one of the first to start the craze off. AC could tell you more about it.
8. The Mack ------ Never seen
9. The Girl From Starship Venus ---- Never seen
10. The Last House On The Left ----- Great but heavily flawed.
11. Master of the Flying Guillotine ------ Zany fun

12. Wipeout ----- Never seen
13. The Streetfighter movies ("You just have to kinda consider all three of them together." - QT) ---Never seen
14. The Psychic ---- Never seen
15. The Lady in Red ---- Never seen.
16. Thriller: A Cruel Picture ---- Good concept, executed poorly/Snoozefest
17. Suspiria ---- Good visuals but not Argento's best
18. Hammer of the Gods ----- Never seen
19. The Savage Seven ----- Never seen
20. The Pom Pom Girls ---- Never seen

You think Halloween is overrated FC? The brilliance of that film is the suspense Carpenter created and the fact that it's still frightening with limited gore something horror directors don't seem to understand. You don't need a ton of gore to scare.

Halloween was done better years before it was released.
It was called Black Christmas.
And there is hardly any gore in that either.

I'm surprised that I've seen about half the list. I don't really watch all that many grindhouse/explotation/unclassy/70s+80s B movies.

streetfighter is a dumb but highly entertaining movie. the sequel is basically the original with a female sidekick replacing the male. haven't seen the third, though I own it on some cheap kung fu collection.

Claudia, we need you to appear in LOST COMMAND. It's gonna revolutionize the war genre..

How is Suspiria a grindhouse movie?

Anything that played in those theatres is considered a Grindhouse product I suppose.
Suspira was double billed with Umberto Lenzi's The Eye.

Even movies like ORCA and ET played in those 42nd Street theaters sometimes billed with a nastier movie as the support feature; the B movie, which during the days of the double bill, was what a 'B' movie was just as on a 45 record, the 'A' side was the single while the 'B' side was the throwaway. Sometimes the 'B' side ended up being the one that got noticed. The woefully overused term, 'grindhouse' strictly applies to movies that feature high degrees of sex, violence and gore. Sometimes one or all three so SUSPIRIA applies. Despite its darkly arty approach, it classifies.

WIPEOUT is the US title for Italian crime movie, THE BOSS (1973) starring Henry Silva.

ROLLING THUNDER (1977) is one of the best Vietnam revenge movies, IMO. It stars William Devane and Tommy Lee Jones. Some villains led by James Best (Roscoe from Dukes of Hazzard) rob Devane's character upon returning home from Vietnam after receiving a large sum of gold from the town he lives in. He refuses to give it up and they grind up his hand in a garbage disposal and kill his family in front of him. Devane makes himself a hook hand and he and Tommy Lee Jones go after the bad guys chasing them across the border. The movie ends in a bloody shootout in a Mexican whorehouse.

KING BOXER (1972) aka FIVE FINGERS OF DEATH was the first martial arts film to start the craze in America before Bruce Lee. It is still one of the most successful international films of all time.

THE MACK (1972) was a successful blaxploitation movie about a drug dealing pimp pondering going straight.

HAMMER OF GOD (1969) (it's not HAMMER OF THE GODS) was the US retitling of THE CHINESE BOXER the first martial arts film to feature empty handed fight sequences and extensive training scenes. Very influential in HK.

The first two STREETFIGHTER movies are awesome while STREETFIGHTER'S LAST REVENGE is a joke and Chiba doesn't even play the character the same as in the first two films. Both play much better in English. the first film to be rated 'X' for violence alone in the US, the Bronson movie, HARD TIMES was originally called THE STREET FIGHTER but changed at the last minute because of the Chiba movie.

Oh,and I assume THE PSYCHIC is the Fulci film from 1977 aka SEVEN NOTES IN BLACK. It's a giallo. It's on DVD here from Severin.

So I have seen it.
A good hitman/mafia movie but not the best of Di Leo's trilogy.

I thought it was great fun, but not the best, either. But that's just my opinion. I thought the second film was the weakest.

IMO, the first film was far and away the best of the three. A great, violence filled Italian noir film. The second movie was fine, it just seemed a slight lesser effort compared with the other two. CRY OF A PROSTITUTE is the best Silva performance of those movies I've seen with him in them. He's a real bad ass in that one.
