A friend bought a Sergio Leone letter from 1971, and wants assurances that the Return Address matches a known Leone abode or business:

Via Calandrelli 26
Roma 00153

Can anyone confirm? (Please provide your source info, too, if you don't mind.)

Many thanks,
DCG.

I didn't think it was that difficult a question, given the sterling reputation of the knowledge pool, here.... Wink

Best,

Roma 00153
Living in Rome, I think Titoli could say, at least, if this is true/possible.

Yes, it is an existing street and the correct zip code. It is located in the part of town where Leone spent his youth.

Thanx, amigo --- I appreciate the Input! If you saw the scan, I suspect you'd agree it "looks purty dang good", and next to havin' it in one's hand for Best Inspection (as an Appraiser), that's the best we can do.

I'm willin' to Hope For the Best for my pal, and lean toward this bein' Authentic.

But I won't deny a bit of Surprise that none of youse guys Pegged it as a Good Addy for Leone.

My pal *also* got a sig from another SW celeb (with a heretofore-unknown addy) that ALSO "looks purty good" from a similar/same source. (And on THAT celebrity, I feel *much* more confident, as good as the Leone aspects/provenance were. Also, the Nature of the Sig is such that it's a Very Unlikely "fake" situation.)

I've been in the Collecting market for 30 years (semi-Pro, and another 5-7 before that, Amateur; I'd say I've been close to "Pro" for at least ten years), and so -- as my grandad used to say, "Them thet kin Brag w/o Lyin' ---- LET 'EM BRAG!" Wink

In any case, THANK YOU ALL for your input!!

Best,
DCG.

Put    Via Calandrelli 26 Roma 00153   in Google maps and it shows down to street level....I mean a 360 degree look up and down the street both ways and you can clearly see Via Calandrelli on a street wall....

Yes, it is an existing street and the correct zip code. It is located in the part of town where Leone spent his youth.

Back in 1970, I wrote a letter to Sergio and I remember I sent it to that address (via Calandrelli, 26), which I must have found on the phone book, when checking under the name Sergio Leone. The letter was returned to me at the time, but I cannot remember for what reason.
I ended up writing to Leone's production company (RAFRAN, which if I remember correctly was on the via Tuscolana) and I finally got a reply.
So I'm not too sure whether Via Calandrelli 26 was actually the right address, or rather OUR Sergio Leone's address, since there are several Sergio Leone living in Rome.
I know for sure that Sergio bought a beautiful house with swimming pool back in 1973 in Via Birmania and he has lived there until his death. Now his son lives there. Incidentally Ennio Morricone's son also lives in Via Birmania.
