Ordered the new Italian FOD deluxe dvd package (cause my Blu Ray player can't play the special features, only the movie) Thought I'd be a nice guy and rip a couple of the features to nice high-quality quicktimes for you all to see/save. (I doubt very much these will be ported over to North America discs). I'm hosting them on the backend of my website for now, but I'm not going to keep them up there forever, so grab em now while you can.  Also might be best to let the whole thing load before you play (they are high data rate..)

Here's the original italian trailer (pay close attention - I'm pretty sure every shot is an alternate/extended take or unused angle from those in the film). Also the Morricone music seems to be slightly different than the version in the film.

This is another very cool supplement, starts off with alternate titles, then montages of clapperboards, extended takes, alt takes etc. I think most of the material is just trims from the takes already in the film. It's amazing to see, one only wishes there was more, (maybe not so quickly edited)  and that some of the pieces were longer Smiley (it might take a while to load, it's 13 min long)

There are more supplements on the disc, most are very interesting interviews (with english subtitles available!) If you have a pal/region free compatible dvd player I recommend you pick up the set. Comes with a ton of cool paper extras as well (all in Italian though)

Enjoy!

I just watched the trailer, that's really cool. Did you notice that they often use too much of the same shot? you often see one second before Leone said "Action" or one second after he said "cut".

You're absolutely right, but thankfully the trailer cutter wasn't a great editor cause it's cool for us to see those couple of extra seconds Smiley

Thanks for that Jordan.  Afro

Your right about the trailer...looks like all are alternate takes and the music is definitely different about half way though.
The supplement is great. I love the first gundown one where Clint is doing his poncho flip and a gust of wind hinders it and on the final shootout his gun jams and the look on his face.

Wow, that trailer is beautiful. I'll bet it never looked this good in theaters.

Actually, it says on the disc that they restored the trailer along with the film. The supplement on the film restoration is pretty amazing too - I was right in guessing that they had re-color timed all of the night scenes. Nice to see the film treated with such respect.

Ok, there's always one pain in the arse and here I am.......
Is there any way that I can watch this without paying to download Quicktime? I don't currently have it installed.
I'm itching to watch these clips!

The Rat

Edit:
I figured out how to do it for free.

Thank you so much Jordon Krug for sharing this. I wonder whether similar footage will be on FAFDM and GBU?
What a fabulous insight into the filming. I never thought we'd see anything like this.
I like the alternative music, particularly the main title theme with more vocal harmonies.
Fascinating stuff

Try KM Player. IMO, it is far superior than Windows Media Player and it also plays Quicktime files. You can also play videos with more than one audio stream.

The funny thing is, when you look at some of the slates, can you imagine loving a film called "Ray the Magnificent"? (or "The Magnificent Ray") Smiley Even they must have thought that was cheesy cause they changed it DURING production to "the Magnificent Stranger" (hand written on some of the slates)
