The Jack Bull (1999)

Whoever got idea to translate the famous Von Kleist's tale (read it, if you have the chance) into western got half of the work done. This movie is well-made, with good interpreters and a good  rhythm. Still I think that it would have fared better with 20-30 minutes left-off (f.e., the whole message episode has no narrative importance). 7\10

Question: are John Cusack and Edward Norton the same person or are they twins?

I never had the chance to really sit down and watch it calmly, only through bits of it on TV. However, from what I've seen I'd agree with your 7/10 rating. (I didn't much like Goodman to be honest, but Cusack was not bad, as well as the old fox L. Q. Jones.)

This movie has actually become somewhat of a cult classic, I know a lot of people that normally don't dig on Ws talking about it and loving it.

Hopefully I'll re-watch it soon.

No, not really. They never looked alike to me.

Yeah I agree with the 7/10, thought it could have been better. There seems to be a certain disbalance between the third act with the machinating and talking taking center stage and what preceded. The ending does seem overstretched, but some of the bits are really good.
