As long as you're going to Hoboken Let me bring up something a bit off topic….

A well known bit of movie trivia is that is that many scenes from the classic movie "On The Waterfront" were filmed in Hoboken, NJ.  While most of the area has been gentrified beyond recognition from the time of filming,  there are a few sites that remain recognizable from the movie.  Check out this YouTube clip.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50qwVcxA52k

The church shown in the beginning of the clip can be found on Willow Avenue and 4th street. (Our lay of Grace church) In fact, the area of the park that Carl Malden is walking through was a dog run as of last year.

The Park shown later in the clip is Elysian Park (about 1000 yards away).  This park is bound by 10th Street, Hudson Avenue and (the now named) Frank Sinatra Boulevard.  The conversation between Carl Malden and Marlin Brando takes place in the south east corner of this park, over looking Frank Sinatra Boulevard and the Hudson river. As I recall, the fence sown in the scene is still there.  In fact the factory (a brewery) in the background was there until the mid-nineties.

When you go to Hoboken to see the OUATIA Train station Locker scenes, you might enjoy seeing these locations as well.  These places are in walking distance of Hoboken station (albeit a long walk).

Enjoy!

One more thing If one going to make a day out of Hoboken, You may want to visit the brass rail.  Nothing historic about it but is a great "steak and ale" place.

Oh yeah.....The Brass Rail  is on Washington Avenue (Wash Ave), east side of the street.  Wash Ave is Hobokens "main street".  The church and the park are each on different side of Wash Ave.  Don't bother taking a bus  down Wash Ave, they go slow as sh*t.
