From the way the article's written it could have been a walk-on part done as a favor to a friend. If that's the case I wouldn't be remotely interested.

The Duke's footage was shot before 1979 (even before Shootist, anyway, according to Burleson himself: so, Jenkins must change the title of the topic) and the movie produced in 1984. How can that be a role? In facts Burleson speaks, aptly, of performance.

This seems about as likely as Orson Welle's Moonraker, although that was based on some fact.

How come it doesn't have an IMDB page?
Did it fail to acquire distribution?

That seems highly unlikely given that the Duke is in it regardless for how little time.

And it's a shame that when I type The Shootist into the search engine this is all that comes up.
We seriously haven't talked about that one?

You could always start a thread. It's been awhile since I've seen it.

Done some research on this and I'm lead to believe two things...

1. This is a hoax

2. It's real but has been shelved because they didn't get permission from the Wayne estate to release it.

Isn't it possible that the man in question just inserted some "found" footage of Wayne into his film? That's how John Carradine keeps turning up in films decades after his death.

Jenkins must change the title of the topic
As the assertion continues to be disputed, I've added a question mark to the title.

Very possible and is what I meant with my second point of not getting permission from the estate.
