Speaking of Belushi, NEIGHBORS (1980) is one of my favorite comedies. It's not very well liked, but I enjoyed the blackly comical aspects of the film and its borderline horror undertones. The film had an interesting and tumultuous making.

I should see it again. I only saw it when it came out 25 years ago and thought that Avildsen was not made for comedies (even black ones).
I'll give it another shot tomorrow.

NEIGHBORS is definitely a bizarre movie, but it has some very good gags in it and you get the impression that Vic & Mona (Aykroyd & Cathy Moriarty) have just stepped out of the Twilight Zone to torture the living hell out of Earl (Belushi). Originally, Belushi was supposed to play the wild card Vic and Aykroyd was going to play the pedantic Earl character. The bit where Belushi locks Aykroyd and Moriarty in the basement is classic. It's one of those kooky movies where you either love it or hate it.
