Well, looks like this is going to happen after all. Some interesting faces are being ''rumored''.

The trailer kicks a$$.  Afro I'm waiting for it. Simple revenge tales can be good when directed great and have a lot of cool lines and real tough guys.

Machete (2010) - 5/10. Lame actioner and even lamer satire. Get this: the fence-along-the-Mexican-border idea is actually a conspiracy between a criminal cartel and crooked Texas politicians to make border crossings more difficult and therefore more expensive. Supply and demand! Are you laughing yet? Lots of blood is spilled trying to put this over, which wouldn't be so bad, except we've seen it all before. Rodriguez is pulling the same stunts he was years ago--he even has another shootout in a Catholic church. Yeah, and the title sequence, purposely distressed to make it look like damaged film: seems to me that's already been done too. There are a few laughs to be had, but not many more than were available in the original trailer. Rodriguez needs to step up his game to the level now set by Neveldine/Taylor, or get out of the biz.

Who the hell is Machete Jenkins? Some distant family member I don't know about? Whoever he is, if he asks, don't give him any money.

Too bad I was hoping for more, I was thinking of going to see this, as I type this I'm actually trying to think of the last new film I went to see in a theater, the only one I can come up with is "Date Night" which I was dragged to by my wife, pretty pathetic job today's Hollywood is doing.

Jenkins, that review is a political position paper, it doesn't tell me much about the film itself. Not surprising coming from those Big Hollywood creeps.

Spot on.

This was lazy crap. Not surprising though.
Rodriguez has for the most part been a hack his entire career.

Every once in a while he delivers ( Sin City and the first 45 minutes of From Dusk till Dawn) but always with the help of more talented collaborators (QT, Frank Miller).

Machete works for the entiriety of its opening sequence but soon turns into a "take it or leave it" affair .
I chose to kick it to the curb.

I haven't seen it yet, but the build up for it had so much potential, lol, I was expecting a film something on the lines of small budget "Bring Me The Head Of Alfredo Garcia" type of gritty personal film instead.....
