Is anyone else really excited about this?

Looks like Tornatore and Morricone have made another masterpiece: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQxTIshGT88

Looks interesting, though that trailer makes it look like a drama, not a comedy.

Wrong section for this movie, only Ws allowed here.

Not sure what Ws  means, but I must ask if anyone has already seen this film, because it hasn't been released in North America yet.

I have the soundtrack though, I love it, an easy Oscar win for Maestro Morricone if they bother to nominate him (which they won't).

Saw this over the weekend.

I loved it, but thought that it needed an even longer running time in order to adequately cope with its epic dimensions. My wife said it was the worst Tornatore film she's seen!

The Cinema Paradiso Blu-ray has been available in Europe since Jan 2010.

And I've been avoiding it since Jan 2010  ;)

(I assume you mean the UK release with embedded subs and apparently not an outstanding transfer)

Once, if you haven't got them already and are a Tornatore fan, the Italian Medusa Region B locked blu-rays of "The Legend of the Pianist on the Ocean" and "The Unknown Woman" are both really good and have English subtitles.

Me too, although if the Blu-ray had included the long version, I would have purchased it.  On Blu-ray.com the video quality scores 3.5 out of 5 only.

I can't help suspecting that the U.S. release may be similar to the U.K. release but thanks for the heads-up and I'll have another look at the reviews when the U.S. version is available.

Seems like a wasted opportunity for Miramax  :(

Seems like the Brazilian release is the way to go for Baaria if you want it with English subtitles - shame about the exorbitant price of Brazilian BDs.

The US release sounds terrible:
