100 films, 100 years. Obviously you have to exclude certain films. In a sense, the films you list will be your favorite 100; but, were it not for the year rule, you'd probably pick a different set (the top 20-30 would probably be the same, though).

Let's take a look at noodles_leone's example. He plays Casino for 1995. He wants to use In Bruges for 2008, but remembers that there is another film in 1995 he prefers to it. This doesn't mean he can't play In Bruges. It only means he must play The Bridges of Madison County before In Bruges. So he lists two films for 1995 and one for 2008 for a total score of .2. Obviously, he would have prefered to get credit for all three films (a score of .3) but it is not possible in this case. Trying to get the best score while still being honest about preferences is what makes the game fun (at least, for me).

so that means that the only way to get a perfect score is if your favorite 100 films happen to have each been made in a different year?

btw, if you are only including sound films, which began in 1927, then there are only 85 possible years which can be listed

Yes. The game doesn't finish until 2027.

I've made my first adjustments based on a couple of responses. titoli suggested Falstaff (aka Chimes at Midnight) and I have to admit it is a film worthier than some I listed. moviesceleton reminded me of the Marx Brothers: I've decided to play their best film, Duck Soup (1933).

Going forward, I will put in bold the new entries, and place brackets around entries that have been retired.

You have Goldfinger in the list (which surprises me), which then means you prefer it to Quantum of Solace.
