Didn't they already remake Straw Dogs as Home Alone? What's the point?

Pretty much my thoughts.

I'm not crazy about the original (one of my least favorite from Sam), but yeah, there's no reason for it to be remade.

Claudia, we need you to appear in LOST COMMAND. It's gonna revolutionize the war genre. What did you think of the script?

No, he'll play the old town drunk.

Sam's words come to my mind, when he described the effect he wished on people
watching the WILD BUNCH slaughter: 'Just a wave of sickness in the guts'.

(at least people will talk about Sam's DOGS all over again. Maybe by then
they finished the CLOCKWORK ORANGE remake starring Seth Rogan)

Or Sam-the-dog, actually. Can't remember where but I've once heard Kris Kristofferson say that Sam was ''like a dog you'd love, but he'd always do something to embarrass you''. Cheesy

Speaking of the original: it was never on the top of my list of his movies but it had some rather strong points I liked very much.

The second part of the trailer shows more respect for the thematic of the original than I expected. Anyway, no point in remaking this great movie, may be my favorite from Sam.

This is kind of funny. The reviewer starts out by comparing the new film with Peckinpah's, then seems to lose interest in the putative subject of the article, and ends up essentially doing a review--a very positive review--of the original film! Not too flattering to the remake, is it?

I guess if one lives enough...

I enjoyed this much more now, I guess the first time around I was shocked by the sheer brutality of it - to the point where I didn't care about the ending. And the ending is, in fact, very satisfying. The characters ''keep it real'', so to speak, and just dance into the well set moral anti-climax. Their reasons are reasonable enough, or better- true to their depicted (previously build throughout the movie) characters - but - they all have to be mingled  together to start 'working'. This is a very good  SP movie, IMO, still, it has more than its share of the usual SP silliness/childishness.

The original, though flawed, is a powerful piece of work. The remake sucks.
