This is a solidly entertaining early giallo by Lamberto Bava. If you can get past its lacking originality I think you'll enjoy this watchable collage of familiar horror-thriller-crime elements. Some of the movie influences are really in-your-face obvious, there's Psycho, there's Profondo rosso, and there are a few others. But they don't hurt if you have the right approach. I found out after watching it that it was originally intended to be a four-part mini-series, each one 30 minutes long, but none of the TV stations at the time would show it cause of the violence... I guess it makes sense, you get that rewind-the-plot feeling every 30 minutes or so. So I guess it could have been better, but I'd still recommend it.

Lamberto Bava had a few solid flicks in the 80s, Hell I even liked that Fantaghirò fantasy stuff he did in the 90s...

Though I should warn you - the dubbing is disgraceful.

Katia: There, on the floor, it's a spider!

Bruno: It's not a spider, it's a cockroach.

LOL, what frickin' cockroach?! It's a giant tarantula! Someone better call Clint Eastwood to bomb the fucker down before it devours the whole world in one bite!

Makes you wonder how much of the original dialogue they got right... Undecided

Haven't seen this but I'm a fan of Lamberto's Demons so I'll have to give this a shot.

If you're looking for a decent giallo to kill the evening, this is it. It shows its low-budgetness from time to time, yeah, but it's still groovy. It reminded me a lot of Profondo rosso, though I couldn't detect any pretension, more like a respectful quasi-revisit. I should have given it a chance much earlier.
