I don't think it's really clear it was Carmen, but as we all agree, who cares?  Wink

It isn't solved, neither in the film nor in the book, but there is only one logical suspect for that killing. But don't ask me who it was. For that I have to watch it again, cause it is indeed not an important question.

But I might say that it was not Carmen ... or was she?

You might say whatever the fuck you want I just watched it not that long ago, and just a minute ago read the end of the novel. The 1978 version follows the novel better than the Bogart Bacall version, in it, it's Carmen who killed Reagan, and it's Charlotte who covers it up for her with the help of Eddie Mars and Lash Canino.

The death, that if I remember right in the Bogart-Bacall version that's never explained, and the one that's always sighted is the Sternwoods chauffeur, but that one is also explained in the 1978 version.

Oops, of course it was Carmen who killed Reagan (in the book at least).

I thought you were talking about that Chauffeur question, which was the one which Hawks asked Chandler, who claimed that he had no idea either (but that's probably only another Hawks story).

Hmm, was that Reagan killing maybe changed in the film? Like the whole changed ending?

Which film? If you mean the 1941, I haven't watched it for a while, I don't remember. The 1978 shows the chauffeur getting it and explains the Reagan murder by Carmen Cover up.

Not 41, that's the false Falcon.
TBS is from 1946 (but was actually shot in late 1944). Well if someone talks about TBS without specifying it is always the one by Hawks.

Btw the guy's name is Regan, not Reagan (like that very dead ex-presi)

I forgot we sidetracked the TMF thread.
