What does "British funds only" mean? Huh I've never written a check before, they have never been widely used here.

You can pay by Pay Pal, probably your best option (using a credit card). They'll take care of the currency conversion. Although I don't need to convert, I'll be using Pay Pal myself (it's fast and safe).
