I'm new to this excellent site but one of the fun things i've done is trawl through the different subjects and looked at members signatures.  It makes you realise how many classic lines there are in so few films of Sergio Leone.  My signature (good friend by my side) is from (I think) one of the all time classic scenes in cinema history at the mission in GBU.  But favourite line?  I like the bit in OUTITW where Frank spits and says 'Now that you called me by name'.  Spine tingling stuff.  I'll probably change my mind next week though. :-\

'See you soon, idi-, idi-'

'Idiots. It's for you.'

Dave Jenkins, Calder Benson, Jim Cooper, Chuck Youngblood. They were all alive until they met you, Frank.

The Leone spaghettis are filled with a ton of memorable lines.  And memorable scenes: maybe my favorite is Tuco caressing the gold coins in his hands, then standing up showing his head framed in Blondie's noose.

yes ! yes ! yes ! cusser. my favorite scene as well. when that rope catches tuco's eye and we hear the familiar aahheeahheeahh, the guitar plays an especially low twangy register.  for some reason when i hear that gutsy guitar line  i think of the dragnet theme. DUM-DA-DUM-DUM ! your like, SO busted tuco.  ;D

Finally I believe only in dynamite!

« #7 : April 20, 2004, 07:50:26 AM »

These are my personal favorites:

"Keep your loven brother happy."

"How can I trust a man who wares both belt and suspenders? Man can even trust his own pants!"

"They call them millions..."

"When you have to shoot. Shoot, don't talk!"

"He asked you to be there, but there was only me... "

"Well if you miss, you had better miss very well! He who double crosses me and leaves me alive, he understands nothing about Toco, nothing..."

"Lets pretend that Chico here is the safe; which weighs three hundred pounds and cant be opened with dynamite..."

"Duck you Suckers!"

Waiter: Would you like a cupcake?
Stewie: Yes, but no sprinkles.   And for every sprinkle I find, I shall KILL you.

I've been to Sugar Town and I shook the sugar down

One exchange of lines that is hilarious and makes me laugh out loud every time is when Harmonica pretends to turn in Cheyenne at the auction for $5000. You know, when they're walking down the stairs... something like this:

- Judas was content with 4.970 dollars less..
- Only they did'nt have dollars in them days..
- But sons of bitches, yeah!

How beautiful is that? It's almost a Monty Python gag...

"These rebels have no will to fight.
They'll soon be finished.  We get rid of these
bastards and then we begin making money on those
yankees.  They carry gold, not paper dollars - and
they're gonna beat the South.  Look.  See that one with the white beard sitting in the wagon?  General Sibley...he looks dead.  He's finally getting out of our hair.  Hooray for Dixie! Hooray!  Hooray for Dixie!"
-----------------------------------------------
That whole monologue perfectly captured the greed, cynicism and absurdity of GBU.  I roll on the floor laughing whenever that greasy hotelkeeper says his lines.  And then the reply to his old wife or mother or whoever it is, "Shut up old hen!"

And what if your hand should shake a little?  And that Gringo so fast on the draw.

'See you soon, idi-, idi-'

'Idiots. It's for you.'

This goes nicely with 'You? - you can't even read' earlier.

has to be

'When you have to shoot, shoot, don't talk!'

This is one of my favourite film lines full stop, and i wish more characters in other films would take note!
