Dir Fielder Cook, with Henry Fonda,   Joanne Woodward, Jason Robards, Paul Ford, Charles Bickford, Burgess Meredith, Kevin McCarthy, and Robert Middleton.

Never heard of this basically town bound Western before and the cast was intriguing enough to check it out. Fonda & Woodward head up a transient family passing through a town where a once a year, big stakes poker game is being played. Fonda apparently has a gambling problem and can't stay away from said game which has a $1000 dollar in chips initial entrance minimum. Fonda takes $1000 of the $3000 dollars the family has left without his wife's knowledge and joins the game of  high-stakes poker, eventually on on the verge of losing everything or winning the pot he suffers a heart attack and is carried from the game room leaving Woodward to finish out his hand.

I won't give any more away, the story is filmed in a sort of a tongue-in-cheek & humorous style that throws you off balance so that you don't know which way its going. Nice twist at the end.

I don't know why this is often on tv over here. It's a good comedy, though you can see the final twist coming. The actors are extraordinary and that's what makes the movie. 7\10
