I saw this in early '80's on tv and wasn't impressed. And that's all I remembered about it. Actually I didn't even remember it was a BTK movie. But that's what it is. Chisum's role in the Lincoln County war is limited and anyway in the other movies his character takes about a couple of minutes time. But of course that fact that this time it is played by the lead forces the writers to take liberties with facts and so you can't be picky about historical exactness. But that is of not use to make the movie vivacious, it never takes off, no scene is memorable. So there are only to remember some performances: Tucker's (who plays a subdued villain) and expecially Christopher George's who plays a bounty hunter in search of revenge in very spaghetti style. 6\10

Saw this a long time ago (when I was a kid) - seemed okay.

Though I did think the same about McLintock! until I had the displeasure to watch it again. Sad

I didn't much like it as a kid, haven't felt compelled to revisit it as an adult.

Very, very average.

But the story is not bad. I like these Lincoln county war films, but here the dialogues dwell too much on old fashioned cliches and the directing is pretty flat. Well, it's a McLaglen
