I'd also like to know if the "Noodles the Shiv" concept from the source novel (in THE HOODS, Noodles becomes a superb knife-fighter, feared for his legendary skill) was ever touched on in any deleted sequences or early drafts of the script.

Apparently he had actually picked up a fair bit by the time of OUTA, enough to get by anyway.

Would have been cool, but the movie would have been in danger of getting to close to the heroic action style Leone was deliberately trying to avoid with his later films. I think it's pretty wise the knife-fighting was dropped to be honest.

Actually, according to Eli Wallach Leone knew more English than he was generally credited with.  Obviously he wasn't fluent, but he knew apparently enough to converse with the actors at least somewhat.

Before I got off earlier, I sent another e-mail to Scott, which was as follows:

Dear Scott Tiler (or Schutzman),

Hello again sir. I don't mean to pester you too much as I'm sure you're
busy, but I just wanted to write and see how you were doing. I don't plan on
making this a regular thing, but it's been awhile since I've heard from you and
I wanted to say hi. (This is a new account, as my MSN one is not working
at this moment.) I just want to make a few brief notes/comments/questions
that won't take up too much of your time (hopefully):

- I will certainly keep an eye out for any movies, TV shows, or even plays
you plan on doing. Again, I think you're a great actor and I'd love to see
more of you! Do you have any projects you're working on now that wouldn't mind
sharing (doesn't have to be detailed, just naming them)?

- The guys at the Sergio Leone Web Board are very interested in hearing back
from you, since you posted there a year or so ago. (You seem to be winning
the "Best Child Actor In OUATIA" Poll there hands-down.) Do you have any
message to them? I'm sure they'd appreciate even a brief hello.

- Someone on the Internet Movie Database suggested you be cast as Al Capone
in the upcoming prequel to "The Untouchables", since after all that part was
played by Robert De Niro in the original. Any thoughts on that?

- I'll keep an eye on your web page too. I saw the pictures of you that you
put up; I hadn't seen you other than your appearance on a 2000 Sergio Leone
documentary you did.

I won?  Really?  That is awsome.  Tell everyone at the site that Sergio Leone was such a genius he could have played every part in that film himself.  He taught me how to act on that film.
I am flattered to win, I want to thank all of the fans and all those who love the film for their continued interest in the film.
I do not know what is next. I know that the perfect role is already there for me and I do not know when but I will be playing a wonderful role.
 
Perhaps Capone, we will see.
 
I don't mind the emails, and please let everyone know that Scott Tiler Schutzman is here, he is still an actor. Still retains the passion and love for life that he always has. And can still "bring it"

 This OUTIA expericence really seems to have leave its mark on him. And us the fans can only be happy of that and for the compliments he made to the fans.
But I must admit, I wouldn't have recognized him on the photos if I didn't know it was him.

Wow, that is so cool. I always wondered if an actor or someone close to Leone visited the forum. Might be worth finding if Scott, or anyone else would go on once a year and do a Q & A, rather like Warners do on the Home Theatre Forum. I wonder if he could tell us what Sergio was like. Most of Leone's collegues said he was such a terrible person. I don't really believe this to be true because most of them are still angry over the stupid arguments they had.

This is Scott Tiler.  I played young Noodles.  I never knew that this website or anything like it ever existed.  Amazing.  I was recently in New York in Dumbo doing a cable show with Rusty Jacobs the Young Max.  We reminesced about the film and fought like old times.

I remember seeing your portrayal of Noodles the very first week that the film premiered back in 1984. Your performance was amazing. I remember you as a child frowing up in Bay Terrace, Queens and from your days at Camp Betar. You are a highly gifted actor and I wish you well with your career
