I hope this hasn't been posted before. Sorry if it has, I had a good search first......

I stumbled across this book on google whilst searching for info on the two different versions of the track The Trio.
Here is a link;
http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=G2lqIuCFJ_MC&pg=PA106&lpg=PA106&dq=the+good+the+bad+the+ugly+the+trio+different+version&source=bl&ots=pjjteCn-Mj&sig=VHBzKy-BIYPXj1UamjUXYBtRkoM&hl=en&ei=gGYrTdmgPIaphAey6KSuAg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=10&ved=0CFMQ6AEwCQ#v=onepage&q=the%20good%20the%20bad%20the%20ugly%20the%20trio%20different%20version&f=false

Looks pretty interesting to me.

It's also available from Amazon

Any interesting info pertaining to used/unused score in GBU?

I found this little passage from this book online, perhaps this explains why we hear two different versions of the showdown score in the italian and international cut (perhaps for home video the Italians used the soundtrack album to recreate the score for the film?)  :

That's the kind of info I'm looking for!  O0

Is this an excerpt from the film score guide? If so, is the rest of the info he provides "common knowledge"?

Google allows you to view pages from this book, although it skips tons of pages as well. I found this just skimming through but it looks like it goes track by track in the book so perhaps there is info on the grotto score? When I get a chance I'll look again...

Edit* it looks like this book is available as a kindle edition, which is sweet, 35$ which is not so sweet but I might pull the trigger...

I was able to download a sample with "title pages"...maybe the grotto isn't there? I'm not familiar with the soundtrack album, how is the grotto score described?

"Il grotto" is the 2nd half of track 5 titled, "Il ponte di corde" (aka "The rope bridge") on the expanded GDM CD soundtrack.
