Out of all the actors to play Man With No Name who would you want to play him?
I like the stink of the streets. Cleans out my lungs.
-
im going with the sympathy vote with Richard Harrison cos i think all the others (except Bronson) would have been wrong for the role. Harrison turned it down and told Clint (who thankfully took it up!!) :o

And today? What actor would you see to play clint eastwood's character for a fourth film with the man with no name (let's call it "For a last fistful of dollars more")?
I can't see anyone!!!

From the list I felt that I had to go with Coburn...
Eastwood managed to capture something in the first "Fistfull" flick... a kind of youthful cynicism with polarized streaks of cruelty and kindness... it's something that (as fascinating as it would have been) I could not see even as fine an actor as Harris pull off... and as much as Bronson nailed Harmonica, his perpetually weathered features would have denied "man with no name" his post-adolescent charm. Fonda would have been interesting, but then who can imagine him as anything, but Frank anymore.
Perhaps a young Newman with a patch of scruffy beard and a twinkle in his eye might have made for a fun ride, but again, there is no doubt that Eastwood pulled off the perfect balance of selfish-selflessness and wry "meanstreak".

I honestly think Jonny Depp could pull it off. I saw him in that Dead Man thing a few years back (with Iggy Pop and Neil Young music - I can't remember the actual title) and was impressed.
-
I think maybe Bill Pullman could pull it off, He doesn't have that teen cult bubblegum following, and he was great in Lost Highway and Zerro Effect.
Dirty and grubby with a stubble hed could be a "Blondie".

I agree! Johnny Depp is just incredible!
-
Have to agree with Picabo on that one.
Amigo, that is the one answer that would prove you're alright.

I've often thought that Steve McQueen might have made a good No Name if Eastwood hadn't been available. (Of course, that's disregarding the fact that in 1964 McQueen would have been too expensive for Leone.)
McQueen's performances often showed a sense of style that would have fitted in well with Leone.
-
Aside from Depp I think Viggo Mortensen would've been good for a Leone movie 8)
-
Kurt Russell would def be a good choice - his Snake Plisken character from the ''Escape From NY/LA'' films clearly is heavily influenced by Clint.

What about Robert Redford or Franco Nero.....
Ice

today... nero or russell, no question.
-
MAN WITH NO NAME? It would have to be CHRISTOPHER JONES! (RYAN'S DAUGHTER etc.) Quirky, lined face, thin and dangerous! ;)

Grandpa chum
Is the guy in your photo the bounty hunter in raising arizona? He'd make a good nemesis to the MWNN
I think the same actor played a hitman in Coens Intolerable Cruelty (minus all the hairy stuff) and died the funniest death I've seen in a film
-
Bronson 8)

I COULDNT POSSIBLE IMAGINE BRONSON IN THE PONCHO BUT I PICKED HIM ANY WAY CUZ HE KICKS ASS ALL AROUND.
THOUGH I WOULD LIKE TO SEE COBURN IN THE PONCHO THAT SEEMS MORE FITTING.
