Title: J-L G R I P
Post by: dave jenkins on September 13, 2022, 04:36:06 AM
He made a couple of films that mean a lot to me. He also made tons of crap. Fair enough.

And he made it to 91. Good for him.

? bout de souffleSympathy for the Devil, Alphaville, Le m?pris, Pierrot le fou. I saw other ones, but most of them simply suck.

I think I never saw anything he did after Pierrot le Fou (1965). It's probably time to catch up. He basically and almost single handedly shaped the "other" forms of filmmaking and kept doing that until quite recently, from what I understand.

Giving a further look at the filmography, I seem to remember that 2 ou 3 choses que je sais d'elle, La chinoise and even Tout va bien were good too. But after 40 years it's hard to decide whether I'd give the same good ratings today.
