Name the 1940's Hollywood Classic that had a major similarity with Leone's dollar films and name that rare (for Hollywood) similarity.

Groggy give the man a cigar, you got it right for the wrong similarity  ;)

The rare similarity is that it was rare for a Hollywood movie/western not to have a female lead in the 40's.

This was a fact noted by John Osborn on TCM the other night.
