Title: El Indio and the women
Post by: Juan Miranda on February 12, 2007, 07:02:45 PM
OK, I've searched to see if this has been covered, but what is going on here?

In the R2 special edition we are told there are no missing scenes, yet these pictures as well as those of the bedroom  scene of Maria Krup and Eastwood covered extensivly elsewhere seem to contradict this. I can understand why such a scene as depicted in these stills would have been dropped. El Indio and women just do not mix at a level of normality. Were these just publicity stills just trying to make the film seem sexy to an audience eager for exploitation?

Great find, juan, I've never seen those before and never heard of a scene with women existing.  The only thing I can come up with is purely a guess, maybe Indio, Groggy, whoever, brought in some prostitutes before the El Paso robbery?  Like I said, pure guess there.

Where'd you find the pics?  Maybe someone associated with the website or seller/vendor would have some knowledge?

Wowee, these are amazing :o. Definitely rare. Indio doesn't have a character to mingle with women so casually. This is totally unlikely for him.

I got them from the R2 bonus disc (hence they are bigger than those at Shobary's site). Sadly there is not a word about them on said disc. Next time I bump into Sir Chris I'll ask him about them.

Tim's theory sounds a good one. If they were just BTS of the cast relaxing between takes it doesn't explain the presence of the women  :-\  Remember also the three colour shots i posted of Monco with some dead bandidos by a river.  We need someone to do a good book on this film.

Based on the response to the stills on the R2 special edition DVD I posted earlier, I thought I'd post a few more.

Just adore this pic of Leone. He is like a big kid, but at the same time an artist totally in love with his work.

That actor with Mrs. Mortimer shows too much emotion to be Peter Lee Lawrence.  He's showing more facial features there smiling than Lawrence did in all of DRAH!   ;D  Great pics though, thanks Juan!

I just read the Cinema Retro special edition magazine on The Dollars Trilogy.

It says that these stills are from a scene -- of Indio's gang cavorting with local women at their hideaway -- that was shot but whose film is thougt to be lost

And they (cinema retro) got their info from this board, specifically this thread

(they also used my info from the thread below about Manco by the water)

Very interresting,...

After el monco said ' iam going to sleep"    ?

the transition of the camera is very fast and we listen the music.(not realy sergio leone style)

Perhaps el monco is in this bed and he  hearing "the party"

so he's getting up his bed for "playing with indio's gang"   he demonstrate to groggy that his gun is better than him lol  (similar scene in for a fistfull of dollars when ramon playing with his winchester)

These are really interesting photos. You tend to think they are from dropped scenes but the third one, where Clint is talking to Luigi Pistilli with the girl obviously amused, looks far too relaxed and I think that is definitely a between takes shot. The two with Gian Maria Volonti are a mystery, though. They could well be from footage that was discarded. I agree with others above, though, that it would be out of character for Indio to have such seemingly casual relations with women.
