The Good, The Bad and The Ugly / Re: Why didn't Tuco kill Blondie?
« on: November 06, 2011, 06:20:46 PM »
Blondie did got to Tuco for help in order to dispose of Sentenza's gang. Later at the cemetary he says "Two hundred thousand dollars is a lot of money. We're gonna have to earn it" Maybe he was of the opinion Tuco had earned his share?

Maybe angel eyes was present when blondie rides into town with tuco tied over his horse. when tuco is lying on the boardwalk insulting blondie, someone wearing black boots steps into frame. i often wonder if that was supposed to be angel eyes. or maybe there is unused footage that explains their knowledge of eachother.

My belief was that footage that had been shot had to be dropped due to the 4 hour length and leone and the writers got round the problem via the scene when sentenza is talking to the half soldier. i vaguely recall reading somewhere that there was a scene in the desert of blondie trying to drink tuco's urine as he took a leak in front of him. but i can't remember where i read it. i remain hopeful that there is footage still to be found. Maybe one day the italians will do their own SE.

I wonder what other footage was shot that we don't know about. because leone's first cut ran to 4 hours, according to frayling.

Thats strange because the version i saw at the cinema also had the 3 bounty hunters being shot missing. i remember some drunken students started giggling. this was back in 1982.

Yeah it was really crap to see the film with so many cuts,on the big screen. However viewing the finale and hearing ecstasy booming around the cinema was a great thrill. Just remembered that my italian dvd has a very heavily edited torture scene too. thank you for those more than mere scraps of information by the way

I wonder how many cuts of tgtbtu there are? i had a version videoed from bbc1 in 1979 that had the italian writing on the freezeframe, lacked the rebel POW telling blondie he is luckier than his pal and the union gaurd saying more feeling and play that fiddle. when blondie kicks tuco awake he says tuco tuco beforehand, which isn't on the dvd. this version also lacked the sorry tuco bit. i bought the pan and scan version and that had the pieces that were missing from tv version included. i also went to a cinema showing and the whole scene in the gunsmiths was deleted, i think that this was the version released in the UK in the 60's. which must be the shortest running version in existence.

At their camp by the river blondie shoots one of AE's gang. however there are 5 members of the gang at the POW camp and Blondie counts 5 at the riverbank. did the guy he shoot at just dive out the way and tumble down the bank? i'm sure it's clem who he later kills

Once Upon A Time In America / Re: My problem with Eve's death
« on: January 02, 2009, 05:41:19 AM »
never mind eve's death or the horshead from the godfather, how the hell did they get kong onto that little boat, keep him secured, fed and watered. transport him all the way to new york, and somehow manage to get him into a theatre on broadway? whilst at the same time, presumably keeping him a secret from the public untill his unvieling? think of the mess while he was on the boat. a 25 feet tall silverback must piss a helluva lot

A Fistful of Dollars / Re: The Ur-Version
« on: January 02, 2009, 05:01:18 AM »
i remember reading that too many moons ago. if eastwood was correct. it adds up to about half an hour of unseen footage. also in frayling's book he states TGTBTU was originally 4 hours long. so there must have been an hour of unused footage. i would love to know what all the footage was, but i do not think we will ever see any of it. the best we can hope for, is if some whizzkid uses CGI to reconstruct the socorro scene and releases it as an extra on some future deluxe edition dvd. because the reconstruction on the special edition is shit and just leaves me feelng annoyed and frustrated. happy new year by the way

"i like big fat men like you, when they fall they make more noise and sometimes they never get up."

12
"i've never seen so many men wasted so badly" and "200,000 dollars is a lot of money we're gonna have to earn it" i love the menace in blondie's voice when he says that

dear calamity, get on to a dutch website called cinecityplanet, they stock the european cd for about 15 euros, i assume you are in the states so you would have to work out the price in  dollari. if you get no joy there e mail me your address and i will burn you off a copy. do not under any circumstances get the english/usa version because il triello does not have the movie version tagged on to the end and doesn't have the better version of story of a soldier on either, good luck

it aint just a film mate. its a work of art it has a magic that no other movie has. when you get the first edition dvd listen for the subtle difference in the music in the desert scene compared to the restored version. yeah i think i love this fricking film too. have it large mate

yes Mr Rat the deleted scenes are on the region 2 DVD it was released in 1999 or 2000 and has the mono sound, i don't know about your restored copy but on mine the ecstasy of gold sounds crap. there is some sort of reverb going on which just ruins the whole scene and as for those new gunshots AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHH. HAVE A NICE DAY M8
