Still, I think the ending is great.

I agree....made it a worthwhile watch..while still kind of a middling film..all in all.

I wasn't crazy about it, either...maybe I expected too much.."cause of the director..& the cast...but was disappointed...& Cameron Mitchell was just annoying. >:(

The original trailer for Vera Cruz is a dandy...& a good example of the old style Hollywood  previews.

The Colossus of Rhodes / Re: Colossus of Rhodes R1 DVD 6/26/07
« on: June 20, 2007, 09:30:58 PM »

Leone was second  director in The Last days of Pompeii (1959)

Yes, he was...the general consensus, even among Leone scholars, is that Leone directed most of the movie...Mario Bonnard got sick the first day of shooting.

I enjoyed Colossus of Rhodes...it starts off very much like a spaghetti western...ex-soldiers returning from the war...gang of cutthroats riding around...etc.

Directed by
Michele Lupo.......has a a pretty wild, over the top car chase sequence that pulls out all the stops.

Guiliano Gemma    being chased by Romano Puppo

Wow.............I've been away. Had a bit of a situation........ been through 2 operations, 1 minor..the other..pretty major........including 2 stays in the hospital...5 days...& 7 days. More details as I become more comfortable doing so...I've missed you all so much.

The good news is...that I can say....that now.......I'm healthy  :)...........it worked.......and I'm trying to get back to the things that were important to me before all this happened...and this place is definitely one of my loves.

I seem to have quite a few PMs...all of which I'll get to, I promise...not just yet... :D....need a few pots of coffee and some time....

Luv U guys.....

I thought that it might have some potential...as it hung together somewhat at the beginning...in spite of an annoying running musical commentary by Roger Miller every 10 minutes or so  >:(...what a lamebrain idea that was.
Then it descended into pretty much complete farce & lost my interest.
