« on: March 25, 2004, 10:08:53 AM »
watched the audio commentary version last night, Christopher Fraylings comments were riveting, but the next bloke sent me to bed, I might be doing him an injustice, I'll try again sometime, didnt get as far as the other experts but cant help thinking Frayling should have done it all.

Battle of Algiers, Film Four tonight at midnight in UK.
Italian director Pontecorvo and a great Morricone score.
You've probably all seen it anyway...

Film Four showed Django, kill last night. I've never seen it before, but I was well impressed, not a great storyline, but well shot and well brutal.
Well?

SPAGHETTI WESTERN BAD BOYS INSPIRED JAMAICAN SKA IN THE SIXTIES. TO THE EXTENT THAT MANY ARTISTS NAMED THEMSELVES AFTER THEIR CELLULOID HEROES. AT THE SAME TIME THIS PARTICULAR WESTERN GENRE ALSO HELPED CREATE THE RUDE BOY. IF ANYONE HAS SEEN "THE HARDER THEY COME" IT IS ALMOST LIKE A 'JAMAICAN SPAGHETTI'.

Off-Topic Discussion / The Thing (1982)
« on: April 23, 2003, 09:19:12 AM »
I watched The Thing last night (again), and I noticed that Morricone performed the music, for the life of me I'd always thought Carpenter did the music himself as he usually does, it sounds just like his style.
The soundtrack is awesome and creates the mood of the whole film.
Does anyone know how Ennio came to perform the soundtrack instead of Carpenter?
