« on: September 03, 2008, 11:06:21 AM »

music by Howard Shore (of LOTR fame)
and directed by Cronenberg himself

and as it turns out will be performed at the LA Opera

this should be ... interesting.

Off-Topic Discussion / Carnival of Souls (1962)
« on: August 31, 2008, 09:59:34 PM »
Anyone see this movie? can't say i cared for it much (just a bloated version of TZ's the Hitch Hiker me thinks), but I'm interested in seeing why so many people give it so much acclaim, or to see if im not alone in my distaste.

Off-Topic Discussion / The Official Remake thread
« on: July 28, 2008, 09:56:03 PM »
This thread is for everything from rumored to officially announced up cming holywood remakes. given the current hollywood trend, i wouldn't hurt to have daily remnders of why modern hollywood is going down the gutters.

Red Dawn- heard a little snippet about it on Reelz channel
but the imdb page is empty. probaby some wild rumor.

The Day the Eath stood still- more then official, a trailer is out and everything.

Barbarella Robert Rodriguez is at the helm. sounds interesting

The Birds

The Creature from the black lagoon

The Dam Busters

Day of the Dead- already out, though i dont think it has anything to do with the original but a sequal to the dawn remake

Death Race because a name like death race 2000 would only seem dated  :D. coming august 22

The Evil Dead no info, but im hoping this is just a sick joke/

Fahrenheit 451

The Fly no info

and thats all for now

Off-Topic Discussion / Extraterrestial life
« on: May 13, 2008, 09:43:50 AM »
Been reading alot of Sci-fi lately so I've been thinking about this.

I don't believe in any of that Roswell stuff or anything of the sort, but considering how large the our solar system is, let alone the galaxy, universe, or anything else that might supercede that, I figure there has to be something out there. i doubt we have or ever will meet anything, be they sentient or not.

hell, i think we'd be pretty lucky to even find a fungus.

so, what are your thoughts

Off-Topic Discussion / marching band field show
« on: March 15, 2008, 02:56:07 PM »

this was a performance we did last year featuring music from Laurence of Arabia, The Wind and The Lion, the Mummy

figured a certain member of the board might be interested in this kind of thing (although i have NO idea who  ;))

if you happen to know what song we did for the percussion break the sole excuse that i can give is we're a very ghetto school  :-[

Ennio Morricone / Morricone arrangement of west side story
« on: March 08, 2008, 07:21:51 PM »

it's in italian (obviously) featuring "tonight" (i think) and "Maria"

i wonder if this really was legitimately arranged by morricone....

oh well its worth posting anyways  O0

Off-Topic Discussion / Guilty pleasures: music
« on: March 04, 2008, 05:01:38 PM »
i know there are alot of these "guilty pleasure threads" around but there has yet to be one about music (that i know of). Basically just list songs/bands/musicians that people generally bag on but you still enjoy anyway.

Rush (not ashamed of it at all if you couldn't tell by my username)

Supertramp (seems to stick out oddly in my cd collection)

Journey-"dont stop beleiving" ( i really am ashamed, i generally talk crap about this song and band whenever i get the chance but as soon as im behind closed doors it becomes a different story. It's the only journey song i like)

that's about all i can think of at the moment.

Off-Topic Discussion / so that Terminator tv show....
