Film Locations / Rojo's residence in Casa de Campo Madrid
« on: July 05, 2009, 11:20:24 AM »
I found what used to be the Rojo's residence. It remains only the 3 door arches of the cellar.

The place in the exhibition zone called "Feria del Campo" in the Casa de Campo Madrid. Of the all the "pabellons" (pavilions) built in the 50's only part of them remain but have been modified.

The house was the "Pabellon de Toledo". Now it is a restaurant "chic" called "La Pesquera".
Position : 40°24'51"N   3°43'57"W

Small door arches (now toilet entrances : Right for ladies, left for men) :

In the following weeks, I will publish new pictures of my 2009 trip in Spain

General Discussion / Sergio Leone and Television Commercials
« on: March 22, 2009, 01:32:03 AM »
Somebody asked sometime ago, I can't remember where and when, about Sergio Leone and the ads.
I found 2 informations :
 1) In "Les cahiers du cinéma" : In january 1989, Sergio Leone went to Zimbabwe to make a film for the ad of a french car "Renault 19". It is called "The elephants". (The elephants, the bridge and the GBU music).

 2) In the Christoper Frayling' s "Something to do with death". At the end of his book, in the
"Complete filmography "chapter, he refers to those ads :
      < 1974-89
Glaces Gervais,  Renault 18 (ruins of Petra), Renault 18 (diesel unchained), Riz Lustucru,
Pain bonne fournée, Whisky J & B, Europ Assistance, Palmolive, Talbo Solara, Dany Danone,
        Renault 19 >

The elephants :

Duck, You Sucker / The inside of Mesa Verde Station
« on: September 23, 2008, 02:12:43 AM »
I really found it. It is a pub called "Molly Malone" in the street "Paseo de Almeria" in Almeria Spain. It is about 1 km from the station of Mesa Verde (Almeria). It is a very beautiful place particularly well decorated.

Sorry for the bad quality of the pictures.

General Discussion / 40th anniversaries GBU and OUATITW
« on: December 29, 2007, 04:55:04 AM »
For the 40th anniversary of GBU, there was a special film projection on the site of Sad Hill cemetery. Do you know if something similar will be done somewhere for the 40th anniversary of OUATITW ?

Duck, You Sucker / The bank of Mesa Verde
« on: December 29, 2007, 02:46:59 AM »
I was told that the bank of Mesa Verde and the restaurant where Juan meet again with Sean/John Mallory were shot in Medinaceli Spain, a town about 150 Km north east of Madrid on autovia A2. Now, if you look at some pictures of the place (Plaza Mayor), the buildings are not there anymore (Plenty of shots On Google Earth ).
The question is, was it a set specially built for the need of the film or did Sergio Leone use old buildings which have been destroyed since that time ?

I have never been there yet. But from various readings and pictures I guess the location should be 37°07'45.35" N  109°58'24.84" W (Lat 37.129265° Long -109.973580°). It's just a guess. On Google earth, it's not clear. But you can see the road making a loop around the site. Very near that point you can see a canyon. The site is about 1.19 mile from route 163 in straight line, and 2.13 miles following a not paved road (San Juan County 432).
What do you think ? Am I right ? or totaly wrong ?
