Inspired by this post in another thread:

Just thinking, wouldn't it have been fantastic if someone had made a genuine SW team-up film, with Clint as MWNN, Franco Nero as Django, Lee Van Cleef as Sabata and Gianni Garko as Sartana? In fact, any combination of two from that list would've been brilliant.

So this probably won't happen (can't, in Cleef's case). So let's say that some director who's a spaghetti fan (Cox, Tarantino) decided to cast the movie that serves as the title for this topic. What modern actors would best fill the roles created in the classic spaghettis?

Let me cut off the spoilsports at the pass. I know we're all classicists here. We love our old movies and we'd abhor anything like this really happening. But just for the sake of fun / debate, let's give it a whirl without instantly kicking into the, "This is a horrible idea and I'm not participating, but posting only so you know how horrible an idea this is," sort of post. First person to ignore this paragraph and do this has to watch White Comanche.

I'll be working on my own ideas in the meantime.

Starring as Blondie/Manco/Joe/MWNN (the role created by Clint Eastwood):
Starring as Sartana (the role created by Gianni Garko):
Starring as Django (the role created by Franco Nero):
Starring as Sabata (the role created by Lee Van Cleef):
Starring as Ringo (the role created by Giuliano Gemma):
Starring as Trinity (the role created by Terence Hill):

Other Films / Spaghetti Look-A-Likes

I've always thought Luigi Pistilli looked a lot like James Caan:

But tonight, I started thinking that the Hobbit who plays Charlie on Lost looks like Gian Maria Volante:

Am I going crazy? Are there other actors who look like the recurring faces in our favorite spaghetti westerns?

General Discussion / Spaghetti Western Web Comic?
« on: February 15, 2007, 10:14:31 PM »
I'm not sure whether this should go here or in Off-Topic. It is spaghetti related, but feel free if I've chosen wrongly to move it.

One of my resolutions for this year was to improve my drawing ability, and I've decided that I need a regular project to keep me on track. I've been giving some thought to drawing a spaghetti westernesque web comic. I'm messing around with styles right now, and you can see some of my sketches and doodles at http://spaghettiwest.blogspot.com

I'd love to hear comments or suggestions or opinions or even criticism and nay-saying from you guys. I'm not as extremely versed in spaghettis as you guys are, but I've seen a bunch. All the Leones. My Name is Nobody. Django. Some of the Sabatas and Sartanas. Trinity. Still haven't been able to buy a good copy of Death Rides a Horse, but I know for sure that I'm never going to chance it on the $5.50 version again.

Anyway, right now I'm trying to decide on the visual style and what sorts of characters and stories I should use. Here's some art samples of what I've done in the past few weeks:

(I forgot about the Stranger who carries the umbrella. I also don't speak Italian, so this might not be correct!  :D).

A half-ass Django.

A doodle of Bud n' Terence.

Like I said, I'd love to hear what you guys think!

General Discussion / Spaghetti-ish fonts?

Here are my two to offer:

Rugby, free for the download from a guy who took it from a British psychedelic rock band's cover art, but also notes that it's the same as from For a Few Dollars More.

Comrade, which costs money, but reminds me of something you'd see in a Leone movie.
