I thought of you guys when I saw this. Perhaps you'll enjoy it.
If you don't know, it's based on the video game of the same name. THE best western game ever made imo.
If the ending puzzles you, it's related to an expansion with the same theme.

Sup people. I don't know if you remember but a long time ago we had a discussion about how the italian bluray looks much better than the mgm release(some might disagree).
Anyway, there's a guy who has taken the trouble of encoding it, cutting it to match with the english audio track and released it.
I can't tell you where to go to get it but look for the release named The.Good.the.Bad.and.the.Ugly.1966.1080p.BluRay.DTS.x264-SuBoXoNe.

I'll report back on how it looks once I finish downloading(it's 22gb).

Off-Topic Discussion / The Irishman (2019)
« on: January 29, 2011, 07:52:29 AM »
Saw in the paper yesterday that Marty is shooting a movie next year called "The Irishman". And it will feature De Niro and Joe Pesci. There's also a rumor that Pacino and Harvey Keitel will star in it as well.
It's based on the story of the mob hitman Frank Sheerman who among other things was involved in the murder of Jimmy Hoffa.

That's all the info they had.

Off-Topic Discussion / End Times Angel-Youtube Movie

thought maybe you'd be interested in seeing this. it's made by some dude trying to get into showbiz.

I thought it was ok, but it didnt make much sense.
if you dont like it I advise you to check his old tony soprano impersonations, those are what he's known on the tube for. you will not find a better tony except gandolfini himself.

Off-Topic Discussion / Documentaries
« on: June 24, 2009, 08:25:25 AM »
thought I'd make a topic where you can post your favorite documentaries. these can be harder to track down than regular movies and as such there's probably loads of great ones we have yet to see.
I'll start then.

Hearts and Minds
a superb docu on the vietnam war

The Century of the Self
not sure how to sum this up with a short sentence. let's just say you will never view politicians, products, advertisements and our modern way of living the same way again. really powerful stuff.

The Power of Nightmares: The Rise of the Politics of Fear
about the near simultaneous rise of extremist islam in the east and neo-cons in the west. and a whole lot more.

American Movie
about a trailer park who loser trying to realise his dream of film making.

When We Were Kings
when ali met foreman in the jungle

The Fog of War: Eleven Lessons from the Life of Robert S. McNamara
about a u.s. secretary of defense and the decisions he made during the 2nd world war and the cold war. it's better than it sounds.

Off-Topic Discussion / Call of Juarez 2
« on: June 20, 2009, 05:41:20 PM »
anyone remember the first one from some years back? let's hope this one is a little better.
the oh mama trailer looks pretty good actually. I spotted a huge totempole at the end there I guess we get to fight indians as well :)

and you get to use a lasso! lol

Off-Topic Discussion / The Wrestler (2008)
« on: January 06, 2009, 03:37:40 PM »

couldn't find a topic on this movie so starting a new one. has anyone seen it  yet?
I just saw penn jillette say it was the best, most real movie he has ever seen on his video blog.
not sure if it has opened in the u.s. yet but shouldn't be long if it hasn't already.
I don't care much for weepy meditations on life type of movies but maybe it's above that.

Off-Topic Discussion / Generation Kill(TV)
« on: September 12, 2008, 07:06:59 PM »
hello there.
just thought I'd reccomend a mini series thats been running on hbo this summer called generation kill. its about one of the first marine platoons taking part in the invasion of iraq and the rolling stone reporter who was embedded with them for the duration of their tour.

you can read abit about it here:

it's from the creators of the wire, based on the reporter's book.  and the son of stellan skarsgaard plays one the leading characters. a truly great series. see it if you can.

I always thought the dvd's were very lacking in extras. now we get that and a proper restoration with correct aspect ratio.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly / Ecstasy of Gold Cover
« on: May 31, 2007, 12:42:12 PM »
happened to come across this on youtube. most of you probably already know that metallica are huge fans of GBU and that they play ecstacy of gold before every concert. well, now they have made their own cover lol:

it's pretty decent for a band that fell off many years ago.

Off-Topic Discussion / Civic Duty
« on: December 25, 2006, 05:25:50 AM »

"An American accountant bombarded with cable news and the media's obsession with terrorist plots in the post 9-11 world, receives a jolt when an unattached Islamic graduate student moves in next door."

opens up sometime in 2007
