The Good, The Bad and The Ugly / Sad Hill dog scene« on: January 10, 2012, 06:37:17 PM »
I have read or heard that the dog that appears at Sad Hill at the end was sent in by Leone to get shock reaction from Eli Wallach who was unaware of it...hence he looks spooked.........Anyone got anymore info or is it just one of those stories.......I have heard Leone liked playing practical jokes.

on web and seen only about a second of mp3 file.............Anyone know of where I can buy effects on cd ..........does such a thing exist ? 4
Ennio Morricone / Looking back« on: December 08, 2011, 05:16:13 AM »
I live in UK and remember looking in record shops for Ennio Morricone imports in the late 1960s and early 70s....Mainly only from record shops in the West End.
Very little was avaialble as he was mainly unknown. It was great fun finding the odd gem ...............Now he has whole sections to himself on CD. My pride of place was Album Best of Ennio Morricone with Cowboy Hat on cover featuring his Western Scores ( One of the first I beleive). Anyone remmeber this ? 5
Once Upon A Time In The West / Casting of Frank« on: October 19, 2011, 06:32:29 AM »
I cant help wondering if casting Henry Fonda as Frank was a little bit of revenge for Fonda turning him down as The man with no name in Leone's early days.
When Leone was almost unknown Bronson,Fonda and Coburn all rejected scripts........When he became well known they all appeared in his films.........And what about Steiger ?.....a rip off of Tuco ! 6

Once Upon A Time In The West / Gunshots« on: August 23, 2011, 03:28:22 AM »
I think Gunshots should sound like they do in Italian Westerns and not as in reality.......Really cool on film

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly / Sergio Leone« on: August 23, 2011, 12:29:47 AM »
What I think sets the Good Bad Ugly apart from other films is that Sergio Leone brought Style. Pathos,Humour,Violence,Sadness, and Fun to this film.......I think you would be hard pushed to find another film with all these attributes .The audience can assoociate with all three Characters.........He should have won an Oscar for this film............With all the modern techniques and film story lines ........Good the bad and ugly outshines them all.
All other Italian Westerns were just pure rip off ! Morricone should have received Oscar for Score and Eli Wallach as Tuco ,But it was ahead of its time and nothing had been heard like it then........Time goes past and now it is a classic I would rate this as one of the most entertaining films of all times 9
For a Few Dollars More / Shane« on: April 28, 2011, 11:23:32 AM »
I watched Shane today and saw a lot of similarites to Dollar Films...........Mainly when Shane Twirls his gun at the end after killing Wilson........very similar when Manco does similar thing in FAFDW
after killing guys in saloon at beginning of film .Also when he rides in alone at beginning from nowhere similar in FOD as in Shane. 10
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly / GBU Soundtrack« on: January 12, 2011, 07:50:08 AM »
When I saw Good,Bad ,Ugly on its UK premier in 1968 I was taken back by the opening theme.I was expecting a Soundtrack similar to For a few Dollars more........But on hearing GBU theme was really unique for its time .Its funny how now it is a standard classic ..at the time I wondered how many of you were sitting there watching the big screen like me ..wondering what they just listened to . I bought the Album Soundtrack in 1968........and my parents couldnt stand it...........After all these years its now part of culture...How different to 1968.......Anybody else have same experience
![]() PS One thing that I was surprised at was the GBU Album cover when I purchased in 1968.......I thought pretty basic sleeve and notes compared to film budget 11
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly / Angel Eyes« on: January 12, 2011, 07:42:43 AM »
Im not sure if this has been said before, but Angel Eyes has distinct advantage over Blondie and Tuco at Sad Hill..........All he needs to do is find the grave.......Why would he tip the odds against himself by assuming Blondie would write name on rock.......All very gentlemanly, but not in sympathy with the overall theme of the film of double cross..I think if he had killed them both he could have spent the rest of his years searching the graveyard in the same area looking for relatively freshly disturbed soil and narrowed it down that way.

For a Few Dollars More / Opening Sequence« on: October 04, 2010, 08:38:17 PM »
Where life had no value death sometimes had its price ...........so the Bounty killers appeared..............Wow who thought up that line..........Nice touch to set tone for film and kind of spooky feel to it.
I also like the Fonts used in the opening sequence and the humour in the gunshots shooting at the credits......Leone's name being shot away is really saying to me ...........dont take this film to seriously..at the end of the day its entertainment......Its a brilliant opening ..surprised no one came up with idea before or after............or do I stand corrected ![]() PS....... Where is the next Leone ![]() 14
For a Few Dollars More / Title Software« on: July 15, 2010, 08:03:03 PM »
Does anyone know of any Software available to emulate the opening titles sequence......ie credits dancing across the screen in line with the soundtrack and bits being shot off them as they appear with the music...........This has to rank along the most entertaining opening sequence to a film .along side the Bond films. I would love to make a DVD along these lines.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly / Tuco shot down at end of GBU« on: March 08, 2010, 05:14:15 AM »
I have read this thread on the forum before but would like to mention it again.
I would have thought the scene at the end of GBU where Blondie shoots Tuco down from graveyard cross woud have been better if Blondie was not shown aiming with his rifle.I think effect would have been if the shot fired was not seen....................Shoot me down boys !!!!l
