Just returned yesterday from a trip to Madrid and the GBU sites near contreras.
It was really great to visit Sad Hill again, especially after all the restauration efforts.
I even managed to find my cross from the crowdfunding initiave!
There was noone else around, so it was great taking pictures.
It was also neat to find information on placcards near all the sites (also in hoyo de manzanares).

I was just informed by Amazon that this release has now been cancelled all together...... that’s a shame!
I wonder what the story behind all this.....

Too bad....

Hi all,

this summer joined the crowd funding for the documentary Sad Hill Unearthed. I selected the option with a (photo of a) marked grave at Sad Hill (among other things).
I did get my poster, and I did get an email telling me about a delay in sending out the digital picture of my grave marker, but so far I haven't received the actual photo.
Anybody up to date on the status of this?

Hello DJ,

Thank you for the informative reply. It sure sounds like they just took an instrumental form the movie and hastily put some words to it.
It's now clear to me that there never was an intention (by Leone) to actually use a song in the movie.

Hi all! Maurizio Graf made the song occhio per occhio (or an eye for an eye) for FAFDM. Does anybody have more info on this? Was it created for the movie or just afterwards using the music for the movie? If it was created for the movie, why was it decided not to use it, etc??

Cheers,

Hi all, I just received the book here in The Netherlands and it was well packaged in a sturdy box. So it arrived in mint condition.
So far I have only been able to glance through it and it is absolutely stunning! So many pictures and stills I had never seen before and so much information to digest. This marvelous is sure to bring every GBU fan many hours of reading joy!
Thanks Peter for this gem!

Film Locations / Dublin locations DYS
« on: March 14, 2016, 01:19:34 PM »
Just returned from a weekend trip to Dublin (to visit the country 2 country music festival. As I had a few hours to kill during the day, I took my wife to visit Toner's Bar and Howth Castle, filming locations of the flashback scenes in Duck You Sucker. While it was fun to find these locations and having a few beers at Toner's, it is quite hard t find the exact shots. It is way better / fun to go around the Almeria area, but just checking these locations off the list was ok too. You can only walk around the howth castle premises, going inside is on appointment only (we had no desire). Howth itself is a nice coastal village with great cliffs. Perhaps sergio had better gone over there, but I suppose he reaaly wanted a castle.... Anyways, been to dublin, been to Almeria and been to the Burgos and Madrid areas. Next stop......Rome? I really wish that last year's sergio leone expo in Turin would have a rerun..... Too bad I missed that....

Film Locations / The arch in monument valley is falling further apart
« on: July 27, 2015, 11:05:17 PM »
Last week I again visited the arch of OUATITW in monument valley. In comparison to my last visit tjree years ago, the remains of the arch have deteriorated some more. Three years ago, there was still some wood stcking out of one of the bases that once supported the upper structure. That wood was now gone, with only the two stone bases remaing. So, although there is still plenty of remains to see, it is certainly in a worse condition then it was a few years ago..... If you still have this on your bucketlist, don't wait for many more years......

Hi amigos,

As you can read elsewhere on this forum, I've just returned from a 3-day trip to Madrid and the Burgos-area, where I've visited a bunch of FOD, FDM and GBU filming locations. Walking around these locations, many questions came to mind, such as: ho did Leone end up on a hill in Carazo to shoot his prison camp sequence? Last week I again contacted the author of the forthcoming definitive book on GBU to enquire about its release date (and ask him a few of my questions...). Peter, the author, was so kind not only to answer my questions, but to also reveal that he has now found a good publishing deal and that the book will be available in 2015!! I'm looking forward to it!
